Looks like a chunk of one of the lands broken off - how? What would the learned members of this group make of the photos attached please?
Thanks
John
Stainless steel barrels used for many thousands of rounds in Bisley style target comps can suffer from fire crazing where the lands by the leade develop cracking. When mine did it still shot well but I lost confidence and rebarreled.
I haven'tshot it yet. I'm contemplating just scrapping it before i waste a load of effort and money trying to get it to shoot. Feel like a massive mug at the moment for having bought a gun on trust.

i would say the moderator was left on for an extended period,go shoot the rifle i am sure it will group well enough for your stalking needs.

In hindsight and fairness to the Op' I fully understand his disappointment even if the rifle does still shoot well.
No one likes to be sold something they would not dream of trying to similerly dispose of to a fellow shooter.
