Tikka T3 mag jamming

I bought a new 223 tikka and it comes with a plastic magazine . Has anyone else had issues with it jamming the next round ? It’s happened a few times now and as I like to night shoot foxes it’s really annoying when it happens .
Can’t find a replacement metal one as think it’s the magazine is the problem.

Is it that it won’t pick up the next round? If that’s the case, take out the spring and stretch it a little, then reinsert. This sorted my 5 round mag. The standard 3 round mag was fine.

Tikka: Excellent rifles; :banghead: mags.

Here’s a genuine, unposed photo of the ground at my feet after my attempts to shoot a CWD in March this year. (I had mistakenly used an original all-plastic mag instead of the steel insert one I’d bought specially. The good one is now marked with red tape…):

Yes, that is the ocular lens protector on the left; yes, l did get that frustrated; yes, l did shoot the CWD. Eventually.

At least two of those bullets are spent. So was the magazine an issue with misses or the 3rd one jamming . Or have I missed something else?

You mean that there’s no bullet in the bullet? ;)

I forget how it went (probably deliberately…), but rest assured that I’m an experienced shooter and that was just a bad day.

I not doubting your shooting ability. I was trying to figure out the issue with the tikka mag as two had been fired. - the info did not mention how many deer you were shooting at. Did you shoot 2 and it jammed on 3rd. Was trying to clarify in relation to the OP👍

I’ve tried endlessly to resolve the .223 Tikka steel mag (10 round) issues.

I found the fault eventually. The round tray doesn’t fit correctly in the mag (I suspect because the mag is designed to be .308/6.5 creedmore, not .223).
I stretched springs, fitted spacers to the bottom of the spring, the mag, the underside of the round tray, fitted shims to the side of the round tray. Nothing worked reliably.
I went to Riflemags, bought one of these, zero issues from then on.

I had this issue with the five round mag, I just use the three round mag you can squeeze four rounds in it never had an issue with that.
I lost a shot on a cracker of a buck because a full five round mag didn't allow the bolt to gather a round😬

Do you have a transcript of your language from that event too? If so I'm sure we'd all like to read it 🤣

Yes I think that is the issue as it is fine on the first couple or if you really “ smartly “ cycle the bolt
