Based in Fareham, Hampshire, I have always had a keen interest in the countryside and outdoor pursuits but have never known anyone else that is. Very interested in taking up stalking and trying to learn as much as possible while we are in lockdown. Have found good resources online and taking the DSC1 at the end of March (hopefully). Would be interested in shadowing stalkers or volunteering to gain experience. Same goes for hunting small game, birds and fishing too.

Welcome aboard. Your starting out on a journey that's very hard but very rewarding. Have a look around your area for any beating that's required. It will get your face shown and eventually the opportunities may start to open up for you.
You can also gain invaluable experience from paid stalks using an estate rifle when we are allowed 🤦🥴.
Have you got your FAC? If so you could ask your officer to open up a condition to use your own rifle on said paid stalks as it would be definitely more beneficial to be using your own set up as its yours and you will gain experience on how your particular setup works for you. The condition would only be opened up to land that is passed for the calibre, which on estates is usually a given but it is best to check with the local force to make sure you wouldn't be breaking any conditions.

Thanks for the welcomes and advice. I don't have a FAC so that is on the list to research. Any information on good contacts in Hampshire gratefully received thanks.
