Trophy hunting bill has gone- for now

So the trophy hunting bill ran out of time today, and was not mentioned in the kings speech which opens the new session. For now it appears it to have gone. It could come back I’m sure as a private members bill, or failing that a new government after the next general election. But for now it’s not all bad.

A significant amount of time and effort has been spent by many pushing back against all the various proposals over the last few years, including all those on SD that responded to the consultations and contacted their MPs, and yes, it may well resurface again. But all things considered it is a positive development that few expected just a few months ago.

Tories belatedly worried about losing the rural vote perhaps? There appears to be little difference apart from rosette colour between them and Labour these days. The 2023 Firearms Act was an opportunity to take sound moderators off S1, this they chose not to do.
