U.K. deer populations

I cannot agree that ignorance and prejudice can be the basis of a sound landscape scale deer management plan so I'm afraid that we will have to agree to differ on this!

Really? The whole of the deer act is based on ignorance. Otherwise males would never have had a closed season in the first place, female seasons would be longer, the calibre restrictions wouldn't exist and it would be legal tp shoot deer at night.

What are peoples thoughts on the accuracy, are there more or less of any particular species and if so why do you think this?

I’d say fallow muntjac and roe are hugely misrepresented there personally I think there’s far more than that

Well right now I'm looking at an article in the autumn issue of the BDS magazine, with photos of drone footage of an exceptionally large fallow herd in central England. So not very confidential.

I believe the SNP reckon they have a million in Scotland alone, and this list adds up to about a million.....

I think all these numbers are pie in the sky estimates. Nobody knows, and to a large extent they shouldn't care either. None of the species are at risk of extinction. It does no good to have accurate estimates.
