Just wondering has anyone seen or heard of 1 of these rifles in the UK they are a direct copy of the French FAMAS only in 22lr I know they are very rare supposed to be only 1000 ever made. They were made in France and were sold as a training rifle but I don't actually know if they were used by the military for this purpose.

Yes. I have used one, in France on a shooting stall at the St Romain Fair in Rouen maybe in the early 2000s. It is actually a Unique X-51bis (which I did own here in the UK) converted into a FAMAS lookalike. This man isn't me and my X-51bis was accurate and had the correct original Unique labelled 3x 'scope with cross graticules for 50, 100 and 150 metres and the correct moderator. I also had the canvas case that you took it down and could put it around the top tube of your bicycle. The Unique FAMAS wasn't used as a training rifle in the same way that the host of .22LR copies (some bad some like the Bremmer excellent) of the AR15/M16 are used for training. The "military" of such countries will usually have a dedicated .22LR fit in conversion unit that fits directly into the 5.56mm "parent" with its guts taken out.

You don't still have it then.
Interesting to know all the same I actually own one and was wondering was there any in the UK as I cannot find another in Ireland any gun dealer i ask has never heard of one from what I can read most of what was made are still in France some in America also but not many either. I'd like to get a spare mag for it if I could but know it will be next to impossible

No. Alas I only had it for target shooting on approved ranges and when I ceased to be a member of such a target shooting club could no longer have been able to provide the "good reason" for a .22LR. Here's a link to a French shop that mentions the X51bis being the thing used to make the .22LR version of what French soldiers called, so it was said, the "trombone". When I was last in France the week before the Olympic Games all the soldiers are now using HK rifles. I don't think I've seen soldiers in Paris with the FAMAS post-covid actually.

Thanks for the info.

How did you find the accuracy when you had it mine is actually surprisingly accurate for a semi auto that looks like it shouldn't be accurate. If I could get it somehow to stop marking the bullet heads going into the chamber sometimes I'd say it would shoot very well

I have one and I think very good out to 50yards, I’m going to use it in a comp this year. There seems to some mag issues initially but once used to it seems fine. They seem to go for silly money in France now

Do you use just the open sights. I have mine modified to fit a scope and find it surprisingly accurate for what it is as you say at 50 yards at 100 it starts to open up a bit alright.

Yes have seen a few go for stupid money alright. I have seen and original in the box unfired model in America advertised for $38000 believe it or not.
