Prefer red hot for extended viewing on the thread. I find it is easier on the eye and better to preserve night vision.

Now how about settings for brightness and contrast.

I have to say with no disrespect your final comment made me laugh That is the most ridiculous comment I have seen for a long while.

I think you owe the lad an apology mate .Hes talking about spotting with thermal then a final check with bins which you can’t do with a thermal .Antlers unless in velvet do not show up on thermal neither is it easy to distinguish sex of beast .
Sort yourself out or face a months ban .

It's the bully boy mentality of the few Jock. Also known as Small Man Syndrome. Every forum has a group like them! They wouldn't say boo to a goose in the street but when behind the keyboard they're just plain bullies! And that's where the binos aren't so important as quality is irrelevant. If it's in season it's getting shot before it goes over the boundary. Plenty on here openly admit to that mentality.

Some are passionate enough to express their thoughts and care not whether it sits well with the snowflake culture that also seems to be on every forum .Its just banter to pass away down time mate unless you are more concerned with a forum than the real thing that is .

Bickering aside, how many of the guys who think thermal is not deer stalking then use a buttolo call on munty or roe bucks??
Why bother stalking when you can just call them aye?
Or even walk to spot and just ambush them when they are walking back to the woods?

Nothing makes me laugh more than spending weeks scouting an area. Carrying a few hundred kilos of timber and tools into the forest. Spending 40 hours building it with a roof i might add to listen to some crank using a thermal on a sown paddock tell me sitting in my blind isn't hunting.

Yep.
Never mind if people want to use thermals all the time to spot deer that's up to them. Get to know your ground and the deer and a good pair of binoculars is all you really need.

I think that the basic premise here is that binoculars do the exact same job but the thermal does it quicker. You still then need to sneak in and make the shot - there are plenty of times when you do not need to know the age, sex etc of the deer you are stalking and then binoculars are not necessary (yest that is deer shooting not stalking but the end result is the same and the deer don't know the difference).

We all did just fine before thermals came about and shot plenty of deer but times move on. The time thermals really come into their own (IMO) is at night so you do not have to be flicking a lamp everywhere and educating the stuff that does not get shot.

ps. Why is it that on so many threads someone has to say something along the lines of 'and to think that you have an FAC' as if disagreeing with someone about something as basic as how you spot deer is cause for your suitability to be questioned? Not just this thread, it happens all the time.

Are you are questioning whether people should be issued a certificate because you are offended, or offended on behalf of a mate that was offended?
