Hi,
I shoot .223 and .243 and have some Berger bullets to reload. Has anybody found a Viht powder which suited both calibres.?
This would negate spending nigh on £200 on two different powders.

Thanks everyone for replying in advance

You can buy Viht poders in 500gm tubs now so two different one’s would be around £90
Viht N160 works well with .243 whatever other powder for .223 likely N140

V160 had good results thanks to guy of here .1548358221095.webp SAKO .243 1-10 42 grains under 95gr Nosler hunting bt

SGArms, may i ask what good that would be to some one who lives in worcestershire unless you are happy to send at cost price? many rfd,s have pound tubs and hps would be a lot closer than east sussex!

weave8144 ,i use n140 for 223rem and 243 85gr. have a look on the vitavoury website they have all kinds of load data

unless you are going light in .243 and heavy in .223 I would go for 2 powders, especially if you can get them in 500grm bottles, N160 for the .243 and N133 for the .233 lots of load data for both those combinations out there, N140 will suit both but in only a limited number of bullet weights

I have a similar experience to paul o' N160 41.8 gr under 95gr Nosler BT hunting 0.5in grouping at 100 yds. and some times better if I am lucky, out of a Pfeiffer with 24inch barrel

Yup N160 @ 44gns & 95gn Nosler BT worked well for me with .5” at 100yds.
Smack on every time, but 100-105gn bullets just would not work at all in my rifle.
Tried lots of different powders with it too.

Have to agree with Deeangeo mine did't like the 100gr pro hunters aswell , but my old Remington .243 loved them

.243 would use about twice the .223 per bullet. I got 3.5 kg of vit 160 for the .243 assuming it don’t go off quick ! A tub of 140 too but it only works well for really light bullets for me

I am just about to experiment with 100gr pro hunters which I hope will be ok with 1:8 twist

What’s the 1-8 twist rifle?
If it’s a .243 Win, 1-8 should be fine for the heavier 100+ gn bullets.
Most .243 Win are 1-10 twist & don’t much like a heavier bullet than 95gn.

It is a Pfeifer SR2 with a 24inch Walther barrel When I collected the Sierra 100gr bullets yesterday I also got some Hornady ELDX to try. I am looking to try V-N160
and Alliant RL16 which I have not used before, does any one have any experience or recommendations ? I am expecting it to work ok but we will see
