Hi all, just back from Namibia. Does anyone know the best way to clean up Warthog tusks.

Never cleaned warthog tusks, but I've had a couple from boar. All I did was give them a good (but gentle) scrub in washing up liquid and warm water, then filled the cavity with clear silicon once they were completely dry :thumb:

I guess you could use peroxide if you wanted to get them pearly white? (or Colgate?)

No disrespect to the previous poster, but I wouldn't use caustic soda on the tusks. It will damage the enamel on the teeth.

Warm soapy water and a nail brush should do the job. Bleaching them is also not advisable as this will take away any natural colour. Filling them afterwards with silicone is fine.
