What is the best scope

Looking on here there are some interesting articles on the best scope, I think the z6i gets some good raves so 2nd generation z6i is fav. Taking the advice of those who know I'm gonna get one But with all the numbers what is the best one I can buy. I have a light stream and it works well but I'm doing a serious amount of shooting at mo so I want something good on top.

Thanks

Phill

Z6i is a fine choice and In my opinion the best on the market today i have the 2nd gen BT version , you are also paying for a great Swarovski warranty and back up should you need it so it's a great choice IMO

It is hard for anyone to judge what someone else might view as the best scope as it largely depends on your needs. I've looked through a few and done some informal testing at last light and in my view there is nothing to chose between S&B and Swaro but they certainly are not the best scopes money can buy. What I will say is that they are adequate for most requirements and I use an 8X56 S&B and do not find that it in any way limits my shooting. My top three, based upon my priority of decent low light performance are as follows:

1. Nickel
2. Zeiss
Joint 3rd Swaro and S&B

I have no doubt that, to date, the best scope I've looked through has been a Nickel but they are far from cheap and you certainly will not see them taking adverts in the various shooting magazines. On the plus side I guess it saves you having to pay for those adverts.

How do you think it compares to zeiss rangefinder I'm just reading up about it.

having read many articles now the Z6i is still fav I like the idea of the Zeiss with the rangefinder but a lot to do, so now what do people think between the Z6i 2.5-15x56 and Z6i 2-12x50 the added weight and the gun is heavy now of a big scope and higher rails compared to the 50 that should fit my current rings. or is a question of if you can afford it go for the best, is there a noticable difference?

Thanks guys

Schmidt and bender Zenith,i was out first thing this morning with my newly aquirred swaro 8x42 EL Range binos watching two roe walking up a hedgerow 312 yds away and couldn't tell if one was a buck till i scoped it with the zenith, wish S&B made binos,by the way the scope was up full on 10x.

No not side by side, just my observations as going by twilight factor the binos should have more light exiting which might suggest that the lense coatings on the S&B could be better,i have two zeniths and wouldn't swap them for anything i'm afraid, the best scopes out there IMHO.

I've got a s&b 8x56 german illuminated and whilst its a great scope it's not as good as the Swarovski plus it's not got back up of the swaro but I love the s&b and the 8x56 is perfect for stalking the only reason I got the swaro because I use it on the range as well if not I would have another 8x56 no doubt.....

A group of us tested the 8X56 Swaro and 8X56 S&B side by side one evening as the light died. We were all in agreement that both offered the ability to see the same detail as the light faded. However, the view in the Swaro "felt" better. After some discussion we concluded that this might have been down to a slightly wider field of view but it wasn't actually the case that the Swaro was brighter or allowed us to see things the S&B didn't as the light faded. The conclusion was that there was nothing between the two of them in terms of actually allowing you to shoot something at last light.

An excellent reply. I dont like swaro, never looked through a zeiss and have used a s&B on anothers rifle. But I like Leupold. You best choice is what YOU like.

Ive done the same with a Docter 8x56 against the same scopes above

It was the guys with the expensive glass that mentioned the diference in falling light was negligeable.

Buy the 2-12 with a fine illuminated ret'. It will be all the scope you wish for and everything you need. You will not loose the ret' in shadows because you can turn the light on to pick it out even in bright sunshine and then a flick of the switch puts you onto your evening setting. Only thing better than Z6i is a 5-25 pm11 Schmidt and Bender but it does need 35mm mounts, weighs a kilo and doesn't do much for the balance/top heaviness of a shoulder arm..
Take my post with a pinch of salt but there is a grain of truth in there.

sightron s3 6x24x50 will do what you want short or long rainge side paralax turrets are the dogsfor dialing in shots very good pacage for the money had all the top manufacturesscopes s/b night force etc not worth the money more money in the price of a scope is not nesasaraly a better scope show me a s/b swaro with better turets than the sightron purchasea sightron and if low light performance is still not good enughf for you get a night vision minocular to put on the back and you can shoot all night you could get both for the price of your swarovski

wraith this is my next scope for the 300 win with a lifetime guarantee and the great writeups witha very reasonable price tag its a must try ,atb wayne

I have a 2.5-15x56 BT Z6i got it when they first came out, have looked through some of the other top end scopes in fading light they are all very much the same, at the end of the day a lot is personal preference, but i would buy another Z6i without any hesitation:-D totally satisfied.
