what rifle smith do you recommend??

I’ve had rebarrel jobs done by Steve Kershaw and Neil McKillop...both do excellent rifle work.
Ken.

They are all as good as one another, the only difference is price and time taken to deliver.

Jack Rollings ( J.R Firearms ) near Dunstable,

Very nice chap to deal with, has worked on my .223 and would be happy to have him work on any of my rifles. He also has the cleanest and most well looked after Colchester lathe I've ever seen!!

Paddy Dane also gets a big thumbs up from me

Not sure how you worked that out, but a life time in a machine shop says you are wrong, no matter how good someone maybe, there is always someone better.

Paddy Dane would get my vote.

Neil.

It is easy enough to work out, it is only the ones that can do the job properly that are still doing it.
There is only one way to do a job correctly.
Set any machine to do a job to a certain standard and it will do it and stop, no over run or short stop.
As long as the machine is set to the same details they will all do the same job.

Not all machines are equal.
Not all operators are equal.
Not all materials are equal.
Not all cutting fluids are equal.
Not all tools are equal.
Not all cutting speeds are equal.
& some people have the ability to get the permutation of all the above right & others simply dont!
Some have the skills & feel for it & some don't.
That is why there is a significant difference in the workmanship between those who can & those who can't perform at the highest level producing the finest quality product.
Price, delivery & good communications are not the only reasons to pick a supplier!

Exactly as you state, if they can't comply with all the above, which to me is common sense and didn't think I had to state that, then they don't last long because the job will not be done properly - but if they have, then they will all end up with the same product of the same quality.

Time and price go a long way but your only as good as your last job be you a gun plumber or gun smith .
