Good afternoon all,

Currently trying to source a cabinet for around 10-14 rifles, but having a few issues.

Looks like Buffalo river safes aren't currently available, and JFC seem to be limited as well.

What other options are available that are well made, don't cost the earth and are in stock?

I don't know your personal situation, but I have always hankered after two or even three cabinets rather than one big one. Firstly its better for security but also it would help with certificate issues and shared access, such as someone having SGC not FAC or before FAC variations come through etc. Said person therefore only needs key to one cabinet and unauthorized access is maintained. I worked in a stalking lodge once where it was one cabinet per person and you were issued with your key on arrival - brilliant!

The bigger cabinets have better access though, particularly to the top lockable sections. I've got 2 cabinets both of which are 4-6 gun (so realistically 3-4!) and getting ammunition boxes etc in and out of the top section is fiddly. I hanker after 1 single cabinet ;-)

I have 2 X 24-gun cabinets holding just 22 guns between them - and that includes the short ones that can tuck in under the shelves! So, as has been said already, take the manufacturer's stated capacity and halve it -or better- to end up with the space you need. Replacing my previous "57 varieties" of cabinet with two big ones was expensive, but immediately felt like money thoroughly well spent, and still does.

Thanks for the feedback!

Totally agree on the gun rating vs. what you can actually fit in the cabinet. I've currently got a 7 gun cabinet, but even with 4 guns in there it's tight already, and there are still one of two more that i'd like to add.

No desire to go for 2 smaller cabinets. it's useable space i'm after, and I won't be sharing.

Not heard much on the GDK cabinets- what are they like?

The Brattonsound titan is a serious option...

Build a dedicated gun room / office / cave for yourself- children, wife, mother in law prohibited by law from entering. They are also completely sound proof and impervious to any form of electronic communication.

Add a comfy armchair, a dog basket for favourite hound and a good collection of malts and clarets and you will be happy with the investment.

I'm a big fan of Lokaway gunsafes. The only thing I'd add is that with ALL cabinet manufacturers they seem to to quote capacity at about double what they will really hold.

I got a billy bargain Lockaway that i just had to have.
I removed the partition in mine and knocked my own up, so dropped from 10 to 5. they dont get knocked when you put them back in. I have also fitted a light that comes on automatically when the door opens.
