My ticket landed on the hallway floor Yesterday. 2 months and a week from application. Avon and Somerset.
Picked up a T-Bolt 17hmr today, looking at a secondhand CZ 527 .204 tomorrow hopefully.

The institute of licensing recently published an article on the refusal to process statutory licences (due to covid) by local licensing authorities (councils) - which by all accounts applies to the refusal to process variations by police authorities.

There is no legal basis to refuse to process, and whilst some delay would have been inevitable at the start of lockdown etc. there should be no continued reason not to process.

Any force refusing to determine an application can be subject to an appeal against refusal to grant - on the basis of a failure to determine.

Might be worth mentioning to the relevant force licensing manager!

Northumbria are got my variation done in a week they also sent out a renewal form before I received my ticket back with the variation lol my ticket expires in December.
On the ball as always very good dept to deal with is Northumbria
