Which hunting boots?

Firstly, happy new year to you all! This subject has probably been covered in the past, but I just wanted hear some more up to date views. I’m looking for a pair of hunting boots, mainly for deer stalking. I was looking at either Meindl Dovre extreme gtx, Altberg Barningham country boots or, Harkila intrepid hunter gtx?? A wide fit would be preferable... Does or has anyone owned a pair or have any input on the subject please? Thanks in advance...

Currently using meindl kibo which are a good solid boot...very comfortable and warm..
Also have the zamberlan kodiak... again a nice solid boot but you need a half size bigger in these and they arent suited to wide feet.....
I wear the boots daily for work and not just occasional.... so I'm able to test them thoroughly under extreme conditions.

Meindl for me 3 rd pair and still going strong...
(they have had abuse but still perform really well)

I’m not disappointed with all the pairs I’ve had.

The Meindl’s seem to be popular. Has anyone had experience with the Altberg Beninghams? Ideally I would buy British where possible or practical..

I am currently running Meindl Dovre Extreme or Altberg Defenders depending on circumstances (i.e. high-leg or low-leg requirement), and both are definitely OK (I realize that for some people describing Meindl boots as merely "OK" is bordering on heresy, but that is my opinion! I would guess that the last they use in construction is just not particularly suited to me).

Once they are done they will be replaced without hesitation with Brandecosse boots. Designed in the UK and made by the Italian Diemme firm I already own a pair of their Rubicon leather wellington style boots and they are simply fantastic. Unbelievable leather quality, construction is first-rate and they have a proper welted sole which is easily replaced. Proper, solid construction using first-rate modern materials and liners, in a style designed in the UK and can be resoled? Ticks all the boxes.

I should point out that I am in no way connected with Brandecosse, other than being simply over the moon with both their product and their exemplary customer service.

Their customer service is second to none, they happily sent me out two different sizes of the rubicon for me to choose which was best fit, only having paid for one, entirely on trust I would return the second pair, I mean, what more can you say?? I asked them if they’d ever had trouble with people not returning boots in that situation and in all their years they’ve only lost 1 pair (allegedly in the post..... yeah, whatever), I cannot fault them or their products, I will be buying some lace ups when the need arises.

Mendls are brilliant, althou mines are leaking now, but a few years old now.

My next pair will be Doditto's, almost everyone locally is buying them now, never heard anything as yet.
Zero maintance and a good bit cheaper than mendls.
1 of the lads had a pair on the other day in some of the wettest days and very wet ground Argo was struggling in places, and was the only 1 with dry feet.

Had a few pairs of harkila and absolute rubbish, even at half price not worth it.

Using a pair off Haix for work the now and pretty good for the money, about 40 quid.
A few off the other boys have bought them now

I'm wearing Altbergs at the moment, army surplus off Ebay, cost me £35. Been up and down hills in Scotland all week with no complaints. I'll probably get another pair for backup or one of the other army surplus boots, you get nearly new boots for 1/5th of the price of new

Anybody had a pair of these or know anything about them? They’re Altberg Raby boots otherwise known as the ‘gamekeeper’ high-leg boots...
P.s. thanks for all the info so far..

Not seen that model but in my experience you won’t go wrong with altberg

Meindle high boots for any terrain all year. If just low ground in summer a pair of desert boots for me.
Always had Hoggs half sprung years ago but don't suppose they still do "tackety boots".

I have Lowas, Solomon’s, AKU, and altbergs both genuine and itturi knock offs.
I’ve personally gone off lowas and tend to wear my solomans (4D GTX) or altbergs.
If you go for altbergs go for a genuine one not the itturi (made for mid under licence) version. I have 2 pairs of altberg sneakers both of which have outlasted 4 pairs of the mod ones.

I have heard/read that in some reviews and was wondering if that was why the Harkila boots I mentioned are on sale at half price?
My Harkilas have been well used for several years and I have no complaints. Bit wary of buying them again, I understand that they are made im China. As is my new Ridgeline coat.

Meindls for me.

Tried the old version of the Dedito and they seem hit and miss quality wise. Lot of folk are now moving away from them.

I tried some Zamberlan Kodiak this year and didn’t get on with them, not the same support as Meindl (might be just my feet, few people here like them) so back to Glockners.

If I was going to try something else I’d go Han Wag Trapper Top I reckon.
