Which Z6i?

I have been trying to avoid it, but it seems I need to have a Z6i. Argued with myself for weeks that i've shot for years with an 8x56 but it hasn't worked. The voices in my head keep telling me to buy one. So the question is, do I buy a 3-18x50 or spend another few hundred quid on a 2.5-15x56?
really looking for good performance at last light but a nice fine ret and higher mag for zeroing and a bit of daytime foxing. If I shop around I think I can get a 3-18x50 for about £1450. would have prefered to only spend about 1k but, in for a penny and all that.

Is the 8x56 going to be any better at last light?

I got a z6 2.5-15x44 I got a really good buy and at first/last light it's amazing an its only the 44 obj so I can only imagine the 56 obj will be awesome performance. I've also got an older swaro av 6-18x50 and that's great at low light a well. Had a few other scopes to compare them with and the only thing I ha that came close was the s&b 8x56

I don't think I need a 56mm lens. I have the 2-12 and 3-18. For mostly stalking, the 2-12 is perfect, but the 3-18 is the dogs nuts for fox and target work. Wouldn't bother with a 56 version.

My buddy here bought a 5-30x50 recently. You can spot your own 22 cal holes at 300 metres.

If you go with one of the higher mag scopes, bet the ballistic turrets.

I bought the Z6i 2.5 - 15 x 56 IR BT about 5 months ago and the overall performance is great. I suppose that is what you expect from Swaro. I know it is a bit over what you want to spend but I cant see there being a great difference in the first/last light perfomence when using the 44 objective lense.

Nothing beats an 8x56 fixed for last light . Something to do with working through a movable lens..

100% agree on Claret's comments ref the 3-18x50. I have the BR-I ret and it's chuffing awesome playing out to 600yds on Century on *18, but can be wound down to *3 for close up woodland stalking.

I've not bothered with the ballistic turrets, as I have spent time on the range and know my yardage on each dot/dash on the ret (and have click data) - can always get a retro fit if I change my mind

Either way, top bit of kit and you'll not regret the choice

Just my 2 pennies worth, But...

If you are using the 3-18 x 50 and run out of light I really couldn't see another scope allowing you a better shot,


And if there's not enought light for it, then the round stays for another day.


I've got 2 of them and can't see me ever changing.

Got a 2.5-15x56 Z6i BT which is awesome. Previously had a 3-18x50.

Got mine from Sportsmans.

I've a 5-30x50 BT, use it for stalking, foxes(inc lamping) and a wee bit of varminting, very versatile scope.
