Whole carcass

I have no deer on my permissions so don’t get the chance of any free venison. Does anyone know where I can get a whole carcass to butcher & eat,? I’m in the Herts/cambs area, don’t want to pay to much in case the family don’t like it.

Drive around the B roads early morning. Masses of roadkill muntjac.

I worked in Cambridge for 12 years as a penniless academic and we got a lot of free venison that way. My old boss used to host a very posh summer garden party, with bbq muntjac as the centrepiece. He used to delight in waiting until people were cooing about how delicious it was before revealing it came off the verge on his drive to work.

Wow couple of punchy replies here not being very helpful.
FFS, Someone wants to into their family to venison. Do you really think roadkill is the best start?

If no one local sticks their hand up and offers you a carcass on here, then couple of suggestions

Jim Riley at DVGM Chippenham might well sell you a carcass whole. Very professional deer larder set up you could probably have a look round and see and it might make your family happier. They also do butchery courses there so there are times when there may be lots of spare prepped meat

Join the Giving up the game Facebook group (national one and lots of local ones)
People advertise their shot game for sale. Sometimes butchered boxes other times while in fur or not

Would suggest burgers, stir fry, spaghetti Bolognese etc as the easy entries transition from beef rather than traditional very rare loin steaks

Muntjac doe in the chiller (in the fur FOC) but the fuel might negate the drive.
Pm me as I wont be leaving it in there for too long.

Punchy? I simply focused on a reply to the anomaly in the Op's post.

I'm happy to let him have a fallow but what the foook will he do with the c200lb leftovers when Johnny Op yells "Dad! I can't chew this horrible brown stuff"?

If your family unsure if thry will like it .. as said buy some basic cuts and try

If your I tent on a whole carcass either local folk on here or go onto giving up the game Facebook page as already suggested here ...put up a wanted ad ... you'll get sorted out

You could try hijacking the peterborough game thread.
Offer to buy a roe.
Easy to skin, nearly always good in my opinion, not so massive you will be over whelmed.
If your not used to butchering a deer happy to talk you through
Im other side of cambridge to you if you get no joy drop me a pm in a few weeks and ill try and help out.

Perfectly reasonable suggestion, especially if you’re on a budget.

I don’t see what the problem is?
