A house in Yorkshire is struggling to sell because it's next to a cemetery. Apparently people are afraid of their own shadow these days. I thought Yorkshire folk were made of sterner stuff ;).

Looks a lot of house for 250K. I'd buy it. I've lived next to church yards for half my life and I can confirm that the dead make perfect neighbours. They never give you any bother at all. It's the living you want to worry about.

I agree, preferable to many people as neighbours - too many zombie films these days. I gave up believing in ghosts when I was 12.

Nice house but a gloomy location - not so much the cemetery but all the trees will make it very dark. I probably wouldn't buy it not so much because I don't want to live near dead people but the potential endless procession of funerals driving past

No. It is hugely over valued and would need the windows replacing and a good sort out. Also I'd predict you'll forever be getting people knocking on the door thinking you are the cemetery groundskeeper. Plus come busy funerals access and parking may be an issue. Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

It wouldn't bother me but if I had that sort of money to spend on a house I would prefer something quiet out in the countryside!

I live in a converted chapel and next door is the vestry and the cemetery.Best neighbours I've ever had! Never complain about my dogs or about the loud music. My living neighbours around the corner are forever moaning, even phoning the police to complain about me shooting. So,yes,I'm quite happy living next to a cemetery.

Can't see why not and a plus you won't get loud Neighbours May get the smell of MDF burning should they have a Cremation

Hmmmm ,....... can other people see you in a mirror?

I'd live there , as my old Grand Dad used to say " Don't worry about the dead boy , it's the live ones you have to worry about " . I grew up next to a church and grave yard , didn't bother me when I was a boy , wouldn't bother me now .

I see this as pure BS spin in aid of free publicity and only those that have seen Poltergeist (movie) would be affected lol.

Some of your must be spoiled for house prices. It's a lot of house for the money compared with what you get down here. That's two-up/two-down mid-terrace money round here.

I admit I'd rather be out in the countryside, preferably with no neighbours for miles, but you ain't going to get that for 250K.
No idea what the wider location is like, not familiar with the area, but those stone-built Victorian houses tend to be solid properties.
I should add, I'm not planning a move to Yorkshire (not yet) so don't panic.
