Evening all .Recently brought 30 calibre 145 grain for reloading and tested tested them for a upcoming week on the Stags.. They grouped very well but has anyone used them on deer . Would like to hear your comments. Thanks

The 6.5 tlr are very good on deer. I have shot Roe and red at ranges between 80-440m and the work great. The last two Reds at 340m and 320m vest shot ran maybe 30m very happy

I used the 144gr Yewtree very accurate but seem to pencil through trident them on about six deer all done same so now useing barns LX-r very good at all ranges 6.5 creedmoor

I've been using the Yew Tree .30cal 126.5gr for a while now and they have actually out performed some of the lead I was using - fantastic... If your shooting 300yrds + I would consider using the Yew Tree tipped. I'm very happy with the change over and have built up good confidence in them.

Last hind season I used a factory non lead and these were very unsatisfactory and just pencilled through. Never experienced an issue with Yew Tree...

I am surprised. Certainly not the case in either my 6.5x55 (112grHP) or my friends 6.5prc (114TLR). Out to 300yds they expand as advertised and perform equally as well as lead bullets on Roe and Muntjac.

This has been my experience too indeed they are quite a bit better than ttsx beyond 200m I think I have shot 20-30 deer so far so a reasonable sample

And mine. Sample of about 30 deer so far. They do leave a calibre sized exit but that's just the shaft exiting the carcass - the petals have broken off inside the carcass and are causing a great deal of damage. My average distance ran is about 5m - and that's based on about 29 that dropped to the shot and 1 that I shot a bit low and made it 40 yds before it collapsed.

Using them in .30-06 with N160 for shooting roe. They are certainty lethal, haven’t had anything run beyond 15m or at all if pinned in the shoulder.
The 6mm 80.5 work great too.

Morning,
I’ve just started to use them on Fallow H/L shots), they work a treat. I’m very pleased.
.308 (145gn) with 45gn of N140.
One interesting observation is that the front of the bullet breaks into petals (for a better word), this can be best viewed on the inside of the rig cage.
There is the central larger wound channel that runs through the deer from the bullet body and then much smaller wounds surrounding it.
IMO this gives you the best of both worlds as the mass hits right through and gives the blood trail you’re after and the 4-5 fragments cause wider damage to the organs.

I've shot maybe 70 deer with them in the hunting calibre and the newer TLR, in both 6.5 and 30-06, so far not lost one, the first one I shot ran the most, and that was maybe 40/50 meters, but was a lung shot. Just working up a load in my .243 for shooting CWD and Roe does in the winter, not used any others copper ammo and havent felt the need to try it.

Have you had the TLR through your .30-06? If so how have you found the TLR compare to the 145gr hp?
