I thought it was a bit suss, I live in the S.Yorks area of the Peak District and its not massive

I live close to this area and know it well, I also have a friend who has stalking rights. As had been said before, most if not all, is taken.

Lads got an fac he soon lose that if accused of fraud especially if he has used his fac use to help him in the fraud wouldn’t be hard to find how many gun shops in Rotherham possibly search his friends list to find the gun shop.

I remember this guy posting about a "friend" having his guns seized, back at the tail end of last year on facebook. My guess - he's landed himself in trouble, is being sent to prison and wanted to raise some cash for himself/family whatever before he went down.

Hi everyone I have not been active in here due to work commitments and struggle accessing the account, the place went to a member on here called Ben who has since visited the ground and had his slip granted, we are not running any form of scam but we have had a few issues with the landlord. And until everything was 100% water tight on there side we simply would not risk any of our members going on, all our members are happy and are actively shooting the ground. And hdshark just to clear up that assumption you have made, I have never had a fine never mind a criminal record, without going into too much detail a friend was arrested but never charged for something called coersive controller by an ex partner. I simply asked if I could keep his firearms rather than them go in police storage. I hope this clears things up

Ok folks, so an update - apologies it's a long one. If you don't want to read the full post then all you need to know is don't touch this with a bargepole!!

I’m one of the folk who signed up to the syndicate - long before it was advertised on here.

I wasn’t asked for a deposit to view the ground as others subsequently have, and had a good look around on my own before committing. There’s not a lot of cover and it’s mainly pasture and sheep. But I was assured the cull target was 35-40 across 4 guns and it’s very close to Chatsworth - so there could be deer in the area. Vermin included and the ground is crawling with bunnies. Plus I was told a walked up game syndicate was being set up on the ground and a day would be provided for the deer syndicate folk to meet each other. My main concern was whether there were actually any deer on the ground, but I know you need to spend a bit of time before you really get a feel for that. I've shot unlikely looking areas that really hold deer - but if I'd had to bet my mortgage on it, I'd not have said this was one of them! However, it was very local and I reckoned it was worth a try for a year.

I handed over the money and then weeks went by with no access to ground, despite repeated requests and written permission provided. Always a different excuse. The real warning for me was the lack of communications and random lies (“I’m working in London and no mobile signal”, “I work away and not allowed my phone for 2 weeks at a time” - I work on the most hazardous site in Western Europe and I can still access a phone or a computer for emails!). Or ignoring messenger posts when he was actively online. And the biggest red flag - he wouldn’t actually call me or give me a mobile number despite asking on loads of occasions.

I started to do some digging and it wasn’t pretty. I tracked down the landowner (not easy - an investment company) and the lads running the syndicate hadn’t signed a lease on the ground at the point they’d taken cash off folk and provided written permission (although discussions were apparently ongoing). I had various SD members kindly PM with their thoughts and knowledge on the ground in question - which backed up my view that their are few (if any) deer on the ground. And recently one of the syndicate owners has been on a legal FB group asking for help as they feel they have got a poor lease. I also found the 3 other syndicate members (2 x SD forum members) all in the same situation and asking for cash back. We’ve been in touch over the last few weeks keeping each other informed about what’s going on as we all tried to get our money back. So the comment above that “all our members are happy and are actively shooting the ground.” is an outright lie. And i would bet my mortgage no one has shot a deer on there yet!

I’ve now had my cash back, but it wasn't easy. I've been fobbed off with every excuse in the book and it was only when I started to get quite full on, with threats of the Police and legal action did they actually start replying to my messages. The cash was slowly drip fed to me over the last few weeks, with the last of it paid just now.

If Claytonl2010 chooses to post a response on here then he’s entitled to do so. I’m not getting into an internet ****ing contest so won’t be replying any further to the thread. I’ll let folk make up their own minds. I just wish the other lads well in their efforts to get their cash back and have shared all the info I can with them.

Can you disclose the location? I maybe able to clear up some of the BS. I think I already know it from previous posts mentioning the Old Floro Spar quarry. If it's where I'm thinking it is close to some permissions I have in the area. There would be more chance of seeing a wallaby than a fallow. Reds very, very rarely visit here, are reasonably close by but extremely rarely roam here, roe are present however are so few and far between would be nothing short of mean to shoot one.

I think we can draw a line under this now. It's appears to have been a set of circumstances beyond the OP control. As a rule its not the sites business to become involved with such issues, but we do care about members responding to adverts placed on here and if possible try to mediate if there is an issue, but that is as far as we can go.
One would hope that everyone involved has had a satisfactory outcome.

This is not land where I thought it was having seen a map, so please ignore my previous post.

I appreciate giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, but after having wasted an awful lot of time investigating what was going on and trying to get my money back, I think you are being overly generous here Malc!

I've no doubt that there was a bit of heart-ruling-head when I looked at the ground as I had my doubts over the expected cull targets and that is something I acknowledged in my post. What I find unacceptable is the outright lies told on numerous occasions (I have copies of all the correspondence). Had this been simply been circumstances beyond the OPs control and he had been honest about it then we'd all be in a different position now.

Not yet - there are others waiting for money back (and I know at least one has PM'd you Malc).

Ok understood, however I would hope that the whole affair is sorted quickly and that anyone requiring the return of their money is refunded within the next few days. I would draw everyones attention to my sticky note at the top of the page regarding syndicate places and questions one should ask.
