Disown the guy! Any father-in-law that doesn't show up with blue-steel bang sticks should be sent packing, I say!:-P~Muir

My favourite rifle Mannlicher Schoenaur M72 barley twist multifaceted barrel in 270 calibre with forward set trigger swing over butterfly safety in full stutzen mode with apel swing off mounts and pecar variable scope

I also have a Tikka M55 contenental in 22-250 calibre thats maybe had 600 rounds through it from new but it plays second fiddle to this baby

I understand. Here, the fool that tries to regulate personal freedoms too much -like our current Congress and President- gets voted out of office and replaced with someone who promises (at least) to do otherwise. Again, it's not the value of the individual right/privilege but rather the idea that someone is trying to take it away that sparks the fires. The gun issue is a large one. For many of my countrymen it is a blood letting issue. We remember that Hitler banned guns before he began the worst part of his reign of unpleasantness so we fight any kind of firearm ban with tooth and nail. Frankly, from where I stand, I see your firearms laws a not only being poorly conceived but excessively oppressive. I could not live under that system.

Back on subject, at least a little, I saw a wonderful rifle in Billings (our nearest "city") yesterday. It was a Husqvarna commercial 30-06 with some kind of exotic receiver sight on board. I didn't have my glasses so I couldn't make out the sight's manufacturer but I didn't recognize it as being domestic. The wood was beautiful and the finish was close to perfect. It just had a fine layer of dust on it. The price was $350 but in pawn shops, you can usually get that reduced severely. Alas! I'd just dropped all of this months discretionary funds on a Howa 30-06 and 170 pounds-weight of fresh beef for the freezer. Maybe it will go unnoticed for another month or two...:suss:~Muir

Muir -

You live in Montana! What a fantastic state for those of us that love the big outdoors. I have a very dear friend, just celebrated his 90th birthday and who is still hunting with a Gyr, who lives 30 odd miles north of Fort Benton. We have an open invite, have seen loads of pictures, but sadly had neither the time or the funds to make the trip.

No moderator yet, can't decide between P4 or P8 and PES T12 or T12 Scout, at the moment it is all about the cost, so may leave it for a while.

Hi Neil,

Lovely rig you have there - I hear good things about the X-Bolt. Secondly I assume you mean T4/8? With regards to a moderator I dont think that the .223 needs one really, if you do go PES ;) I am a huge fan of theirs, just ordered myself a T12 Scout for my new 6.5x55. They are MUCH better in my opinion that the T8's and their little offspring (Wildcat etc.) Im sure others will sing the praises of Reflex to high heaven and back again. But they are not my Truman Copote ;) The Ase Utra are good cans too.

Enjoy your rig

Sam

Yes it will have to have a mod I'm afraid, my land is populated by anglers, who all think noise is not good :-D
The P4/8 I refered to is the Wildcat version of the T4/8.
At the moment some v-N120 is more important, not much point in a moderator if I have no ammo to fire

Neil. :)

Kevin,
Yes I do. You've obviously flopped into our "International Airport" with the one strip! (You either land full throttle into a headwind or rocket in, smoking the brakes with a tail wind!) It is nice country: Plenty of game and few laws! ;) ~Muir
