It was I that mentioned Selena and stated that she has her work cut out to fix the magazine. That was the only mention I made of her and unless I am totally mistaken she is trying to turn the magazine around. a she is a member here there is every chance she has read what I wrote and as stated I will be writing to her at the magazine itself.

I stopped buying it a couple of years ago, the final straw was an article by a woman who droned on about how much more able and suited they were to stalking than men, the ability to multitask and such crap. Just out of interest, who else was in that artical if you can remember? Where there any men involved etc.

I have subscribed to it for about 3 years and have seen good times and some very bad and nearly didn't re-new my subscription.
But having said that I do think its coming around full circle.
Why not write in with your opinions they may take on board some comments or even publish your articles.
You could easily write up your stalks with me using your classic weapons, after all its a little different.
I have quality photos to accompany it.

As the saying goes speak as you find and when I spoke to Peter Carr at Scone he came across as a nice guy and quite quiet.We had a wee chat about Africa (I was on the Zambia Rhodesia border in '75) and I came away with the impression....what a nice guy. I also had a chat with Byron Pace, nice guy and keen as mustard and has had some experiences for such a young guy; he's written some good articles. They seemed pretty receptive to a couple of ideas I put to them so why not give them some input as John say's and give 'em a chance?. Little too much negativity?.

I think Selena has her work cut out in restoring this mag to what it could be; I've read it from the Charlie Jacoby days onwards, and seen it slide (I mean - chicken hunting?!?. FFS....) BUT if she relishes a challenge, and anyone taking up stalking obviously does, perhaps she ought to be given slightly more of a chance than 1 or 2 issues?

I think it to her credit that she joined the site, some may think stepping into the Lion's den; yes, with hindsight, maybe she would have been more upfront about her intro, but given the flak that SR has taken recently, perhaps she didn't want a hail of incoming from the outset..... What would be unfortunate, IMHO, would be if rather than engaging with all of the stalkers on the site who could do something postive and possibly constructive to help her shape the future of the mag, Selena felt that all the hostility and comments about her looks rather than her editorial capability wasn't worth it - an opportunity lost, perhaps on both sides.

So - Selena, if you're reading, stick with it, but make it better. If you do, you'll probably pick up a number of lapsed and even new subscribers. If not, you'll lose at least one more. Me.

well said that lady we all have a vote we vote with our cash, to buy or not to buy is the question. or maybe we should just lose another way of having a voice in the community one more move towards silencing our hunting community we need all to have some sort of input if we feel so vehemently about the read write to the editor tell him why and what you would like to see in the magazine give some input you seem to have some good tales to tell on this forum it is always easy to criticise others or should we just loose another magazine and be silenced

hi,

i subscribed to the MAG for two years and to be honest it did have a lot of repetition. I no longer do so.
I do believe there is a gap in the market for another magazine for stalkers by means of an either improved sporting rifle or a complete new one.

IMO, I am not sure as to the reasons why Selena is here on Sd, but if its to help support her job and the Mag i think we should assist if she wants it.
From the last post which everyone still refers too, i see no formal introduction as a representative of Sr, so in my eyes she is but just another stalker and should be treated as such.

Bought it several times didnt like it so now dont. Would say however that having been shooting for 40 odd years I cant imagine running a monthy shooting mag and keeping things interesting and without repetition. I am pleased they try because it may help new people get interested in the sport.

If it's causing problems then it might be better all round if there was a clear distinction between being 'the face of SR' and being on the forum in a private capacity - if she feels she is being used as a target for those who happen to have an axe to grind about SR, PC or any other issue, then the simplist thing would be to join again under a different username.

Back to topic dont like S.R. dont buy it. Write in and tell them why you wont renew subscriptions. Write an article and try and change things that way.

I did write in but it wasn't published because I dared to mention an Agent that had not taken advertising with them and was offering 'no trophy fee' trips at a lot less than he (PC) was offering.
