Bison Safaris in Germany

I could look it up, but hunting proper European Bison is, as I recall, hugely expensive. I don't actually even know how many of them there are, but there must be enough for an annual cull of some description. People on here will know.

So I am fortunate to have both the European and N American Bison, the European animals are hunted annually in a number of countries now, but again I was fortunate to get mine from the area where they survived the longest before wild extinction and where they were first reintroduced.
They are fantastic to see in the wild and a lot bigger than you think when close up.

Sweden has just sent a dozen or so to Russia to repopulate a national park. After WW2 there were few Visent left in the wild and to repopulate, Visent were sent from Sweden. All Visent in Sweden are in enclosed area's.

I was on a driven hunt a few weeks ago and one Hunter was showing me pictures of the bison in his region but they are protected and not to be hunted as numbers are low,Atb Wayne

It has an ear tag so is it farmed or are all wild bison in Europe tagged as due course

There is a flourishing captive breeding program for European bison, several establishments in the UK are involved, they don't need to be farmed to have ear tags!
