Tick bite , or Ringworm?

Just having a little think about this one,
Hi finnbear. What and where have you been ie does ground have a Tick burden or as with Ringworm is there any way you could have come into direct or indirect contact with the source. According to my books the Clinical sighs of Ringworm in Humans are circular, scaly, pink to red , crusty lesions with slightly raised borders which expand peripherally with the loss of hair. The hands, arms and forearms are mostly affected but other body areas may be involved due to scratching. If your worried maybe a trip to the Doctors would be the way to go, :tiphat:

I'm leaning toward Ringworm, as the centre area of skin is a bit like cling filmy shiny effect, drying to scales.

Sounds like ringworm. Never had it myself, but I remember my kids catching it from the calves when they were just toddlers.
Smearing live yoghurt on it is supposed to help, apparently. Let it dry into a crust. The ringworm fungus then decides to live on the yoghurt instead of on your skin.
(Old fashioned creosote will also sort it out pretty quick, but not very good for your skin!)
Probably better to go to the doctor.

Looks like ringworm to me although its been 30 years since I had it.
When I went to the doctor he looked at it from a distance because it was the first time he had seen it .
You can buy an antifungal cream at the chemist and use it for about a fortnight.

You tend to get it in areas that get hot and sweaty, I have had skin fungal infections a couple of times. You can get Canestan cream or Daktacort from a chemist, just need to rub it on the area a couple of times a day for a couple of weeks

If you don't want to bother your GP pop in and speak to the pharmacists I'm sure they will help or see the practice nurse at your surgery. You will get to see either of them a lot quicker than the GP and if there's more to it they will soon tell you and you can request an emergency appointment

I had a very similar unexplained bite a while ago. I'd been moving rocks from a quarry and later discovered this. No pain, swelling, or itchiness. No further symptoms either. I kind of assumed it was a spider bite, or some other insect

If it's Ringworm, white Iodine was my Mother's cure. We were always picking it up from cattle and the treatment never left any scars even on face. One or two gathered since though

Looks to be a pretty good copy for mine.

I never did find out what caused it. It disappeared over the course of a couple of days though, and has never re-occurred

hi matey, thats not a tick bite, its some kind of ringworm infection ,i had the same on my arm and got some daktorin cream from the docs , cleared up in a week dave. dont get it on your ole pecker matey lol.

If ringworm, topical treatment will resolve. But if Lyme reaction, it might also stop presenting in a similar time frame. The advice I was given was to monitor my health around the 6-8 week mark past the first sighting of the ring. If transient flu like symptoms experienced at that point, wait a further 6-8 weeks. If there is a repeat of the flu like symptoms, get to the doc and insist on Lyme test. Some GPs demur at test on basis that it can throw a false +ve result. It is often easier to persuade them to prescribe a dose of antibiotics. Once again, do not settle for low dose, 7 day script. Insist on 14 day course.
