So . . . .

Its farcical, in your opinion. A huge amount of people (~17.5 million) obviously do not think as you do. To avoid all this, the eu could have cut a deal with the uk and agreed to limit the right to movement of people anyway. Ironically they are now thinking of doing this since merkel threw the borders open and let half the middle east and africa flood in.
Much of Germany also hates what she did.
I was working nearby to where that truck was found containing 70+ bodies in high summer temperatures, it caused a huge local shock and I can understand her stance on opening her border, it was an ill informed kneejerk decision IMO due to the risk of illicit Islamic sleepers coming into central Europe. She really screwed up on that one, but she had been a good stability role for Germany in many other ways till then and perhaps her ego after 11 years at the top got the better of her.
Let those who have never made mistakes cast the first stone eh!
Some rude comments are coming out on this thread, sorry Olaf.

I think you will find that the biggest mistake we (Britain) made was going in in the first place.:tiphat:

We were BS"ed then too by Heath as I kinda remember.
The EU has worked for me since 1977 as I had made a very good living out of their free movement of labour, sort of what the Polish/Roumanians are now doing to the UK & Germany, we were part of the aufwiedersehn pets wave from brickies to engineers but all that is history now as the EU wages have fallen heavily since the wall came down and the eastern invasion.
What price for 73 years of peace?

3 better informed options! not for me. NO DEAL OUT for me.I voted not to join the common market, joining was the Big mistake.
I see they are going to charge us for visiting in future .Strange they didn't charge British visitors between 1939 -1945.

I reckon they are being as difficult as possible, so that there is a second vote pushed for, and you will stay in after all. I also think if and when the uk does leave, its the beginning of the end for the eu, at least in its current form. A lot of countries are not happy either, Italy being the main one, but also hungary, poland, austria etc.

A lighter comment, and question. When did we become, simply, “the uk” ?
I think of that as an abbreviation for ‘the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland ’.
Things seemed better when we were “Great Britain”
‘Made in GB’ stood for something back then, and other countries referring to us as ‘great’ put things in perspective. Just my thoughts......
What’s yours ?

We are certainly a kingdom but it would seem fair to question the United bit.

And Macron admits that there would be a majority for France to leave, if they allowed a vote.

I'm not sure how old you are but wheather leaving proves beneficial or not I'm convinced neither you nor I will live long enough to make a meaningful call. Therfore what we are discussing today is very much about the impact to other than the SD generation and frankly to consider otherwise is incredibly selfish.

As with global warming we need make the right decisions now.

K
The moment we leave and regain meaningful control of our country it will all be worth it to me.
As for the younger generations, well we inherited what our predecessors did to this country, I see no reason why the younger generation shouldnt do the same.
Yes I do have children, now 33 years old, works in the financial field, for a large american company at the time of vote, he voted out.

Neil.

So, does that mean that we should also be saddled with an elected government party for ever just because there was an election and people voted them in, because to hold another election 3 or 4 years later would be so undemocratic ?
Kindest regards, Olaf

Stop being a spoilt child Olaf, you know full well it doesn't mean that.
We elect a government every 4 years, for better to worse, usually worse, but that is not the same thing as voting to stay or leave the eu.

Neil.

I believe the right decision for the future of the UK/Great Britain, leaving the EU has been made.
Whether we leave on the right terms for our nation has not yet been decided and relying on politicians to achieve the ‘right terms’ in line with my views, seems rather like playing roulette.

As for the future, those generations need to take care of it themselves.
Selfish? Maybe, but I don’t think so, rather more in the way of a guiding hand.

MOSSYPAW..WE've always been known as the United Kingdom. Remember the United Nations juxtaposition that, because of the alphabet, the United Kingdom representative on its Security Council sat between the United States and the USSR. If you called from abroad and get through to the old British Telecom "International Operator Assistance" they announce themselves as "United Kingdom".

I was too young when the UK made the choice to join the EU, but I did vote to leave when I was given the chance, I know that myself and my children who also voted leave have to live with the choice we made. it could be for the better who knows .at the end of the day that was the wishes of the majority so it's parliaments job to try and get a good deal. We may in another 40 years have to make a choice again become the 51st state be a state of China rejoin the EU , but what choice is made I will stand by it and not bitch and whine .
