“Friend” permission stealing

I have a permission off a farm who’s son works for me and he came in today to tell me that a shooting Friend of mine has asked the farmer if he can take over the permission even tho he has two permissions himself that he never attends too. Do I pull him or wait and see if he says anything?

It’s definitely true as I was up the farm this afternoon dropping the young lad off after work and the dad confirmed he was up asking

First off - your "shooting friend" isn't ! I would talk with the landowner to make sure where you stand, then directly confront your ex-friend.

I had that happen several times, years ago. The kind, gentle, and honorable approach does not work with those that lack honor. They will continue go behind your back or "share" ground, or whatever excuse they can come up with. Even had one that when he was turned down, would hunt (poach) anyhow and then say he was out hunting with me and I was about somewhere.

Yep, friends like that you can do without. I sold a friend a Webley .455 Automatic for the flat rate 150.00 compensation fee in 1988. He'd already got his s5 Authority. I'd decided not to bother. On the understanding that if he sold it later he'd give me 50% of the profit. He never did. Yet I learned he'd sold it for nearly 1,000.00 before that year's end. Be happy that not you've only still got your permission but have you found that out cheaply that there's sh1ts in all walks of life. Even amongst those you think are friends.

I sold a friend a .455 Webley Automatic from me for the mere basic flat rate 150.00 I'd have got in the 1988 Hand In. He'd got his s5 Authority. I'd decided not to proceed even though i was told I'd be given it if I did. Anyway the agreement was that he could have it for the flat rate as long as if he sold it he'd give me 50% of the profit. I learned that he'd sold it within that year for near on 1,000.00. But at least the OP has still got his permission so he's found out at no cost that there are sh1ts in all walks of life...even amongst those we believe to be friends!

Anyone who shafts you or attemps to, definitely isn’t your friend.
A friend just wouldn’t go behind your back in any matter.
Totally agree with this comment. Next time your MATES out shooting on your permission call around a his house just to make sure his wife's ok.:thumb: With her permission.:tiphat: Famous saying only trust the Lord and he pays cash.:old:

I've had this happen to myself, when you've given a friend a helping hand when their permission has not been forthcoming. They then go behind your back and don't have the decency to tell you.

Years, and years ago I took a work colleague that I thought might be a freind shooting in a local wood with my air rifle. During the early part of the morning I encountered what was then a reoccuring problem. Namely poor accruacy that in reality was point of impact shift and that I later came to realise was down to the inadequate scope mounts on the BSA Airsporter.

Not wanting to disappoint or handicap my companion when it was his turn to shoot, I removed, as I had done all too many times before, the scope and reverted to use of trusty iron sights.

When arriving home I couldn't find the scope my new friend had been asked to pop into my small backpack and simply assumed it had fallen out at some point during the hunt. No other scenario ever occurred to me even though I searched the wood for many weeks until one night, more than 25 years later, I woke from a dream and realised with utter incredulity but 100% certainly what had actually happened to that Tasco scope on the morning in question.

Scummy bsted,i would turf him properly.

We have our own secret little hideaway deer spots in public land, they take some time to find the good ones and there have been numerous occasions where 'others' have tugged my coat tails to come along for the ride only to find out for themselves where the deer mother lode is. Then of course they are back there with their mates...without telling you that is.

The bloke in the OP is an FN dog and if ones firearms licence wasnt at risk he would really deserve a good cut lunch.....on the nose.
