Viper Flex Quad Sticks Advice.

How did you get on with yours on Arran, and how do you find the, generally speaking, now you've had them a while?
Sadly, only managed to take 4, 2 off bipod and 2 off sticks standing so no real test of the ability to go low. Overall, I didn’t notice any real difference to the bushwear/seeland sticks save the important fact that the front yoke does not “collapse“. I was used to this with the other sticks so it was not a problem with them. I made a few mods to the new sticks, removing the hold straps (to stop them flapping in the wind) and drilling holes and fitting small tie-wraps to stop the cradle rubbers from inadvertently becoming detached, but I did this to the Seeland sticks too. Overall, 2 from 2 stable shots at 120 and 110m - nothing spectacular but they worked and delivered. They got used for prodding bogs, as steadies on difficult ground and to stop branches from whipping, all without issue. Bonus, the grips stayed put in position and didn’t move like the Seeland ones.

Can you tell the max length the closed ensemble extends to, thinking about resting binocs on the tops to scan, etc, also to get an idea as to whether the length is nearer to 1,60 or 1,80, or whatever, thanks.
Sorry, forgot to say that is how I glass at long range with thermal and binos and no problems there Too.

Need to measure when I am home but I rest binos on them fine. I'm only 5ft 9 tho

I'm a shade over 6', which is why I was enquiring, but I may call the best fox call folk to see what they can tell me, as I'm interested in knowing the weight also.

I am 6ft 3 and position 11 on the legs is my chin height. From memory there is 3 more 5cm increments to go after position 11, which would put it forehead (closed) for me.

Thanks for this Springbok, I'm assuming this is for the Viper sticks rather than the Mjoelner ones? I might have to try the Vipers if the Mjoelners are too short for me.

Update, received a secondhand pair of Vipers from SGArms, used them a few times and I’m very happy, the lever opening is a nice touch and not a gimmick.
Regarding the height I’m 6’ 2” and there’s loads of adjustment left, I recon you’d need to be over 7 foot to have any issues!

Interesting thread. I have been considering getting a set of vipers mainly because the yolks on my Bushwear set can move much more than is necessary. The rifle can occasionally be close to falling off the edge, even though I am used to shooting off them. Not wanting to hijack this thread but has anyone managed to alter the Bushwear front yolk to reduce the amount of movement?

the discussion on quad sticks always seems to be Viper Flex Vs Seeland/Bushwear but price difference is so great that you would always go for Viper flex. There are so many other choices that must offer better compromise on price V quality. As a beginner the stable sticks, primos and mjoelner look the best choices - just seems viper flex over-priced?

Bushwear - 70
Wildhunter Quad Shooting Sticks - 80
Bush Stick by Stable Sticks - 95
Seeland - 95
Mjoelner Hunting Quad Sticks - 99
Primos Polecat steady rest (5 legs) - 120
Quadupole (5 legs) - 130
Viper flex Elite - 195
Javelin Quad system - 250

As I mentioned the front yolk of my Bushwear sticks moves far more than is necessary. In other respects they are fine. The front yolk on quad sticks should stay reasonably level when the sticks are deployed so that the rifle can be resting during aim but still allow for some stable lateral movement of the rifle should the intended prey move. My question, regardless of price, is how stable are the front yolks of other makes of sticks?

The Vipers don’t move.

The 4stable sticks are stable as regards the yokes (no 'egg-on-face' puns here!) but the whole is a bit short when opened if you're a bit tall, that's the long and short of it!

I’ve bought a set too and unlike my Seeland/Bushwear sticks the top of these are “geared” so that you can easily go low (rest of them especially the lower portions are virtually identical). I’m about to give them a good test up on Arran next week so we’ll find out pretty quickly if they work!
Hi, just thinking of buying the molly quads - have they worked out for you?

Certainly did and they are my go to sticks! However, there’s a new twist - I have added a Viperflex 5th leg. I don’t use it always but if there’s time I do and it makes the sticks totally solid - like shooting off a bench. The 5th leg snaps on/off quickly so if I don’t want the weight/faff, I leave it in the car.AC979D77-CCA8-43AC-9C51-8550C5C41431.webp

Many thanks - it was a toss up between the Mollys and the Vipers - stability, weight & strength and I think these have the edge.

Buy right.
Buy once.

After I researched sticks I followed my own advice and jumped straight into a set of viper-flex styx journey plus 5th leg (Not used the 5th leg yet though but you never know).
Brilliant piece of kit which should last years.....recommend them to anyone.
