222 rem reloading

I always used 55grn bullets in mine as they were far easier to come by. I can't remember the weight of the bullet (60grn ?) but Sierra manufacture a heavier bullet that is specifically made to suit .222rem.
I had superb results using TU2000 and Varget powders both no longer available, and also with Vhitavuori N130.

Good to know, it'll be n133 il be using. The lad says he was using 60 something grain bullets in his 222 and that accuracy was not great, which I was not surprised about as it seemed a tad heavy for 222, or at least that's what I thought.

Cheers

222 is fine for 55gn bullets at the velocities it works at.
It's not weight but the length of bullet that can become the issue.

That's a real shame will have to find another suitable powder but the. 222rem seems not to be too fussy so hopefully won't be too difficult. My wife shot a jackdaw at 200 yards with one of my homeloads with ppu stone dead.
Don't worry, there are loads of options for powder and a 222 would probably shoot superbly with the case full of saw dust it's that naturally accurate.
It's one of the better Remington creations.

What price are you paying for your bullets at the minute? Spud1967 sell 100 ppu 50 gr sp for 15.50 they seem to shoot very well out of my. 222

Those ppu are a good price.
I'd bought a couple of boxes online which were around £21, but I think there may have been a price increase. Also picked up a few boxes from the classifieds for under £20 pounds. They shoot much better in my rifle than either 40 or 50gr Blitzkings.

55 grain bullets will be just fine for a 222. I use the the Sako Gameheads, which are really good rounds.
I also now home load with the Sierra Gameking 1365 55gr bullets, which are terrific for Muntjac, Roe and Foxes

I use 50gr Hornady Z-Max at the moment. They're starting to be hard to source now so when I run out I'll be changing to 50gr V-Max which are said to be the same thing, just a different coloured tip and a higher price. For powder I use ADI 2207 which is close to VV N130. Very accurate combo out of my Sako AI, 1:14" barrel.

Cheers

I use N130 20.6gr + 53gr vmax in my 1:12 custom, and N130 20.4gr + 50gr vmax in a cz527 1:14. Both loads very accurate and effective for fox .

I'm using my last tub of Varget.
Full case with 25gr compressed load with either 50g or 55gr Speer soft point.
The rifle has a 1 in 12 twist barrel.
Next option for powder will be N-130.

Do you know what velocity you get with that load?
