BASC to remove "Legal Expenses Cover" wef 31 July 2020

How to wind up a company in steps :
1- Keep the same rates of income.
2- Drop the fundamentally most important product on offer .
3- Have enough in the pot to pay the CEO a years pay with a valid pension pot.
4- Sell up and keep the Assets that the members have paid for .
5- Have a party and last one turn off the lights.
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

why would anyone pay out twice ! once to have a badge and then again to fund Insurance 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

150 claims/75 cases a year seems a number worth retaining the insurance for!

I'm looking to book my first stalk, just joined the forum, so not well versed - what sort of cases did this LEI cover?

I'd be pretty reluctant to be out and about with a firearm without it! Would be curious to hear some examples of use.

Imagine how you’d feel if your direct debit went out yesterday and you read this today?
Is this just for individual members or shoot and syndicate members as well?

Mine went out last week and I’ve been a member for nearly 30 years.........We need someone to fight the fight, so belong to many related organisations, but enough is enough for me with the BASC.

I’m done with them.

I don't suppose this has anything to do with a case against the police over a medical, which we could never win????

I know we may be/feel frustrated with BASC (possibly an understatement for some) and any number of people have bailed out of BASC. It is however the case that the likes of Conor O'Gorman do some seriously good work and I metaphorically tip my hat to him every time he enters the SD bear pit. It must feel a thankless task for him.

Just as a matter of interest, how many people have actually:

1) tried to activate the BASC legal expenses cover?
2) had confirmation that the insurance applied to their problem and then had cover revoked after legal advice was obtained?
2) had confirmation that the insurance applied to their problem and been covered by it all the way to successful (or unsuccessful) legal outcome?

My experience of legal expenses policies generally is that they often don't prove to be quite what people thought they might be. Insurers usually only seem to want to back 'dead cert' winning cases, so it is not unheard of for cover to be refused/pulled if the legals look a bit tricky. I'm not saying that is how the BASC legal expenses cover operates, hence the questions.

If the BASC legal expense insurance did operate in similar fashion to some other legal expenses policies, its withdrawal might actually be a loss of perceived comfort rather than an actual loss. Might its removal have been presented differently? Of course. Does it actually represent the loss of a significant member benefit? Possibly not.

Well I moved years and years ago. I will just say to the chappie Connor Gorman, "I really don't think you at BASC live in the real world or understand what your members want".
It's a very sad day for all shooting but the antis are pi....g themselves laughing at the fumbling efforts of "The voice of shooting". They will be our deathnell.

I see on their website they are regulated by the FCA, is there anyone on here who might have an insight as to whether this could be mis-selling of a financial product or something down that line for those of us who purchased membership because of the insurance?

Never claimed on my household but its still there just in case , i feel that is the problem here there is no reduction for the loss of insurance and just belonging to a club the fee is OTT,
I helped a pal who also was a member of BASC when he needed help with a firearms cert problem he requested help this was given free but to go to court it was an extra fee on top ? around 5k as i remember .

Also if you Google this by cutting and pasting "Competition and Markets Authority Report a Business Behaving Unfairly" that will take you to the official GOV UK website to make such a report and let the CMA decide. It's an easy step by step process.

Also if you thin BASC is unfair in not offering a part refund perhaps Google this by cutting and pasting "Competition and Markets Authority Report a Business Behaving Unfairly" that will take you to the official GOV UK website to make such a report and let the CMA decide. It's an easy step by step process.

What a dreadful decision, do BASC really think members are just going to roll over and accept this ridiculous change? This is going to cost them a lot of subscriptions, I have to have BASC membership, automatically paid through my wildfowling club membership, if I didn't I would not be renewing, I will be speaking to the club to see if an alternative organisation can be found that DOES include the cover, absolutely unbelievable, BASC what are you thinking 😕

Am I correct in thinking that as my sub is monthly DD I can just cancel that and that's the end of the matter or am I contracted to term end?
