Got them new from HIS this week, had to wait nearly two weeks for my size. Obtained through work so not my own coin.

Two days of hill ground work should not result in this. Not for boots which are near £250.

At a loss what to do, so I'm appealing to the SD hive mind for answers.

I know about boot care and have worn oit my last pair after 3 years, be lucky if this set gets more than a season!
Return them ASAP.
They’re not fit for purpose, I’d not be entertaining any argument either, your contract is with the vendor so it’s up to them to sort it.

The Meindl boots that i bought in 2008 are still going strong, yearly trips to Scotland and elsewhere, i have been so impressed with them so i am truly shocked by your photo.
I can't beat that, but have a pair from '11 that get light / infrequent wear and are tickety-boo, less heather abrasion.

I've only ever had great service from HIS.

Always lovely to pop into Macleods too. Top-quality, knowledgeable service. Also, where else can you buy both a Swaro DS and an ironing board at the same time...? :thumb:
Ironing your stalking kit? My, that's posh ;)

Clearly, these boots have been worn outwith the scope of their design. Like someone else asked, have you been walking on burning heather? These are walking boots, not industrial boots!

Or they are poor quality!
judging by the way the rubber is deformed and misshaped, it looks like they have been used for something other than hillwalking. If that is incorrect, Meindl warranty and customer service is excellent and they would be keen to find out what caused this 'fault'...

Looks also like they where maybe on top of heater or somewhere hot as to dry and glue as let go.don’t think these boots like hot places!

It does look like there is a problem with the adhesive bond....if it was from use / rough terrain stress I would expect it to have failed in the high flex area...but it appears to be in areas further back as well which would indicate a general lack of adhesion...

I have a couple of pairs, one about three years old with no damage and the other of about 5 years with a couple of millimetre of fold and gap right on the maximum stress line at the base of the big toe...

I can confirm that they were not.

Other pair that are three years old have been used for a brief period of burning and no such failing was present.

Make of it what you will, my next pair will be a different brand.

yes deffo better pairs of boots out there.i have these boots too and defo be getting a different make soon.:tiphat:

I’ll be trying brandecosse next pair. They look bombproof. Just wondering if they’re going to take years to break in.

I have sent a pair of Meindl boots back recently as they had Leaking and the welt on one boot has started coming away after just 11 months.

Apparently I have worn them too much so will not be covered under the warrant.

With customer service like that, it’s time to start looking elsewhere..
