.20 all dayThinking of getting a sub 12ft lbs air rifle for ratting around my farm buildings mostly, most likely it will be a HW100 , but which calibre should i get ?
TomT3 I noticed an older post in which you were offering the opportunity to purchase your DS air ranger. I have scouted around to see if a sale had followed...??Yes love them -as I said I used to have a 97k but now have a hw100k and Daystate air ranger FAC still do have a hankering for a springer though!
I had the original hw100 then the carbine I can’t really fault it. To be honest, only slight issue I see is that the pressure gauge is at the barrel end of the rifle which isn’t ideal. Over than that it is defiantly one of the best if not the best PCP airgun ever made IMO.
Living in Scotland I would just get an FAC air rifle that can be turned up and down, but the fact that they cost much more than a good .22rf has severely dettered me.
As you must have the thing on an FAC wouldn't an FAC PCP .25 be the best of all assuming there was no possible risk of over-penetration damage to be taken account of?
My ticket has just been renewed and I managed to get them to let me keep and unused FAC air slot.A HW100 is great, but not as good as a Tikka T1x in .22rf or 17hmr

My FEO did ask why I wanted FAC air when I've got an HMR and a .22 lr. The answer is very simple. Because I want it to shoot corvids and squirrels out of trees. I can't shoot a cartridge rifle, any cartridge rifle, into the tree tops. With FAC air I can because an air pellet will expend all its energy, stall and fall out of the sky like a raindrop before it completes it trajectory. A bullet will not and will retain potentially deadly energy right up to the point where hits the ground. She hadn't been aware of that. She is now, which is good.
Not enough range and not as quiet as a moderated FAC PCP. I did look into it but I'm not going to knock pigeons down at 60+ yards with a .410Moderated .410 not fit the bill?
These are extremely good rifles!Incidentally, I was leaning towards an FAC HW 100. I've now thinking I may up the budget a tad and put an Air Arms S510 Xtra in the frame as well.
It will be in .22
