Salmond v Sturgeon

Napoléon Bonaparte

“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”

― Napoleon Bonaparte
I’d imagine Nigella may find somewhat less ’opposition’ in many quarters than the diminutive French Emperor. Speaking of which, I wonder what happens to wee Sarkozy now? A good time to ‘bury’ bad politicians it would seem, or at least remind them that they are just so many ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ entities, and not above the Law.

Thought the Scotsman article was pretty interesting reading - this extract and the “folder” it alludes to is fascinating. So is the folder filled with exocets or just a bluff to force certain hands to do something they clearly do not wish to do? Roll on wednesday........

“This unseen evidence wields a greater power over the imagination than anything that has been published. This is what made his foregrounding of the folder so effective, and his come-on to the committee so audacious. So long as that material stays inside the folder it is Schrodinger’s evidence - simultaneously innocuous and explosive, but helping keep the conspiracy theory alive. Unveiled, we would know once and for all.”

Just love it!

Well I’m hoping for root and branch reform to prevent Scotland descending into a deeper parody of Romania under the Ceaușescus.

Nicola Ceaușescu and her “hubby” have the place done up like a kipper.

His reference to 'key legal advice' presumably means 'only the bits that support our position'...?
They’re pressing for full disclosure, or else he will also fall. According to the retired Diplomat’s sworn evidence, Swinney is also somewhat in ‘the thick of it’...

Correct, and heavily redacted too.
In other news, it is being reported (in the Sun, no less, so it must be true. It’s being reported elsewhere too...) that chief civil servant Leslie Evans destroyed notes from key meetings about this whole affair. If that is true and can be proven, she may be going to prison.

I really don’t get this bit. That lady is a professional and career Civil Servant who knows full well the risks of destroying notes of sensitive/controversial meetings if there were significant important decisions taken and they are not formally minuted (which they really should have been in the first place). Against this background she would have sought a formal direction from her minister and usually in writing to protect herself. It all sounds a bit Fawn Hall - like - there’s one for the older generation to (try to) remember! No googling now, chaps!!

I had to Google to be reminded, I'm ashamed to say, @Foxyboy43. I did find Olly entertaining...

Remember that Leslie is married to an SNP activist and is therefore likely to be heavily invested in the independence argument herself. Maybe she saw this as a way of furthering the cause? Maybe she is not as professional as one would hope? Or maybe the reports in the press are nonsense.

Sadly, Lesley Evans and the rest of the FDA "professionals" have let themselves down - and have for some time..... The premise of the Civil Service speaking truth unto power to restrain the more idiotic whims of politicians went out the window years ago when they went native and settled into the role of rubber stampers. Swinney only decided to publish (selected bits of ) the evidence when it became clear that the normally obsequious Green Party were going to join in with the kicking of Swinney...... surprise, surprise..... sudden reversal of plan. The whole rabble must now realise that even the usually complicit press have realised that there is a bit more smelly stuff to come out and have started to take an interest in the whole sordid proceedings. I suspect that Sturgeon has been practicing her lines before her grand appearance in front of the committee - hence her non appearance at the daily propaganda "public message" yesterday - it must have been a severe blow to her to realise other people can manage to waffle on just as well as her.....
I really hope all the rancid SNP/civil servants/hangers on/ partners get their just deserts before the election, but I suspect they'll drag all this out as long as they can...... and then of course we'll have the inquiry into what went wrong with the whole pandemic scenario - oh, that'll be even better!

There have been many allegations that the so called impartial Civil Service in Scotland 'went native' some time ago. The only body that can sort this is the Scottish Government. They are so tainted, and indeed implicit, that there is little fear of that happening.

Can you imagine the uproar if the Westminster based Civil Service interfered?

A further example of the rottenness spewing from Holyrood.

We were promised that there was no need for a 'reforming house', as the committees and their consultation would fill this need. So what happened? They ignore one set of consultations after another...Hunting, Air weapon licensing etc etc...., even introducing or supporting important amendments at the last moment without any consultation at all, as happened with the Mountain Hare nonsense.

And some would have us believe that this shower of sh1t could run an independent country?

Oh dear maybe I am older than I thought. The shredder on the lawn operated by mz Hall was one of the highlights of the otherwise dull Contra affair. A good looking girl who made a few quid before slipping back into obscurity - possibly selling shredders!
