Game dealer not accepting lead shot carcasses

Wish the website had a section where stalkers could advertise/ sell gralloched carcases at game dealer/ reasonable prices. Although I don't get to stalk as much as I like to, its always good to get a carcass or two over the year which can be butchered and frozen. I believe there could be others like me who enjoy venison and isn't too picky. Also easier to plan if there is a planned cull within the area. Much rather support a fellow stalker than supermarkets.
Have you looked at "Giving Up The Game" on FB?

worth a read, the members have voted to source game birds and venison that have been shot with non lead
Buisness as usual for me mate won’t affect me lee I’ll be using lead

I looked back through my cull spreadsheet, and did a bit of statistics.

There was absolutely no difference whatsoever in the number of runners, shot distance, meat damage or any other metric you care to mention between deer shot with lead and deer shot with non lead. I was convinced otherwise, and I am pretty good at forcing stats to tell me what I want to hear, but in the end I had to admit that at standard UK stalking ranges, shooting at standard UK species, it makes absolutely f*ck all difference.

In 5 years time, we will look back and wonder that the fuss was about.

The world moves on. Best deal with it and stop whining.

There is a case to be made that the current offerings in non lead work less well at longer range - 300m plus.

But that is quite a small minority of the deer shot in the UK. In the time it takes for the bullet and rifle manufacturers to figure out how to bridge this gap, the cull shortfall this might account for will be more than made up by the massive expansion in the use of thermal and nightvision.

It’s a non issue.

That’s fine for deer.

what about vermin and predators?

what are all the .204 owners going to load and shoot?

I hope they’re (BASC et al) going to pay compensation for all the lead bullets I have, and all those sat on dealers’ shelves.

It’s really not.

yet again the ‘I’m alright Jack, what I do won’t be affected’ attitude of shooters comes to the fore.

Oh no! I hadn’t realised that copper bullets bounce off foxes...

Look - you can whine or harrumph all you like. It’s not going to change anything. Non lead is here, and if you want to keep shooting, might as well just get on with figuring out out how to make it work for you.

It’s not like we’re the first sector to be affected by bans on previously standard materials. Asbestos. Lead in fuel or paint. CFCs in refrigeration. There is a very long list. You adapt, you find alternatives, you move on.

I personally have just started learning to shoot at longer range, using eldx bullets. They’re fantastic, and I will keep using them while I can. But I don’t plan on buying any more once the ones I have are used up. I accept that once that happens, I may have to stop shooting at longer range for a while. So be it. I can work on some other aspect of my stalking.

You give in ....... this attitude is why I have far more respect for packham and co than I do the shooting community, at least they have a bit of fight about them
Why don’t you wind you neck in!

your like a feck’in broken record, personally I couldn’t give a monkeys what you do or anyone else for that matter, but there will be a time where lead bullets will be 100% banned

So here’s a question , Why don’t you wind yours in extolling the virtues of non lead ? Last time I checked lee this was a free country with all the freedoms of speech that entails... you sound like a petulant child mate because someone dares to have an opinion that differs from your own
