Game dealer not accepting lead shot carcasses

We do need to find a way of not hating one another over this lead nonsense. It arouses all of our passions (I certainly feel incredibly aroused ); however, if we tear one another apart then the antis will be sure to prevail.

Can't we work out a way of maintaining the two strongly opposing - equally-legitimate - views, while remaining united in our love of hunting?

Indeed Carl , or perhaps I should “ wind my neck in “ and just let the lead crusade have the only say as our Lee would like ? We’re all equal , but it would seem some are a tad more equal that others 🤔

Lee's just passionate about the subject. Same as thee and me. I'm sure I've said plenty of horrid things on here too. You're all c'nts...sorry..bloody tourettes is back...

Anyway, I guess we all just need to try our best to play the ball; not the man.

As Simon Reeve would say "Bloody Hell". 🙃

Mate, I can't talk. The last time I went into Phillip Morris in Hereford (pre-lockdown3), the bloke told me that he always remembered me because I use bailer-twine instead of a belt. I can't believe that's now my own fookin' signature...:worried:
I’ll make a Yorkshire man out of you yet lad !

You are correct we all have our views, I apologise for my post, BUT I want to carry on stalking I want others to carry on stalking, lead is on the way out that is fact!

shooting / stalking is on the back foot, we’re on borrowed time, we have to do what we can to preserve the way we do things for as long as possible.

Just think, Lee. If you started using lead again, you could perhaps change your name from 'Norfolk Deer Search' to 'Norfolk Deer Find'... :p

Oh no! I hadn’t realised that copper bullets bounce off foxes...

Look - you can whine or harrumph all you like. It’s not going to change anything. Non lead is here, and if you want to keep shooting, might as well just get on with figuring out out how to make it work for you.

It’s not like we’re the first sector to be affected by bans on previously standard materials. Asbestos. Lead in fuel or paint. CFCs in refrigeration. There is a very long list. You adapt, you find alternatives, you move on.

I personally have just started learning to shoot at longer range, using eldx bullets. They’re fantastic, and I will keep using them while I can. But I don’t plan on buying any more once the ones I have are used up. I accept that once that happens, I may have to stop shooting at longer range for a while. So be it. I can work on some other aspect of my stalking.

Yeah, you carry on with your stalking Jack, don’t worry about everyone else.

Very few alternatives for a lot of calibres out there, particularly for vermin bit that’s not your issue.

Plenty of alternatives, and more all the time. Any copper bullet, launched from any of the standard calibres at any sensible velocity will kill a fox. Many might actually work better - the .17 Hornet copper bullets at 4600 fps will be turning foxes into bloody sock puppets at silly ranges. Sure, there is going to be a problem for .22lr for a bit, but given the sheer size of that market, the technology is going to catch up fast. And let's face it - it doesn't really take much to kill a rabbit. You can do it with a catapult and ball bearings, so anything chucking out lumps of copper at anywhere near 1000 fps will be perfectly effective.

This isn't a fight that can or will be won. It probably isn't one that's even worth fighting, since given the choice between food possibly contaminated with pretty grim toxin and food not so contaminated, it's actually pretty perverse to fight for the right to eat and/or make others eat the toxin.

The world changes. Always has, always will. You either move with it, or get left behind muttering bitterly into your pint.

Have just run the figures on my moderate .223 50gr v max load vs 36 gr Varmint grenade.

4.5” wind drift against 7.3”, the former has 50% more energy too, that’s with the barnes doing an additional 650 FPS. This all leads to lead being more efficient in terms of picking up that nervous fox someone else has missed that you just can’t get in close and if you’re out in strong winds and balls your wind call up a bit.

I tried 30 gr Varmint grenades in the hornet for a hundred rounds or so, they were rubbish compared to the 35 or 40 gr v-max. Out of the same cartridge.

What are all the .204 boys going to shoot ?

39 gr SBK has a BC of .255, 26 gr Varmint is .131!
