Potential trophy?

Havnt measured a muntie in years but thanks for that sir .I’m guessing 3rd measurement is other antler .

He looks like he will measure very well to me, nice brow tines to help with the score. Don’t think he will go 75 though. To give you an idea I have a 75 and he was 15cm in length. as you can travel to your cic guy they are normally very happy to show you the process for next time.

I forgot to take off 8 points for the differences left to right🙄! A couple of lads i have shown who shoot far more muntjac than i reckon hes a solid gold but time will tell i guess, not particularly bothered in all honesty as he was a bloody good stalk and theres quite a bit bigger buck iv seen about in the same area,
Il update with official score

Definitely worth a measure. You only get charged for it if it makes a medal so cant really lose!
Also he looks like a cracking buck

Have you any pictures of him cleaned up and ready for measuring.

So.. he went gold, no doubt pushed over the threshold by his brow tines.
The roe was taken within a mile on the same ground, theres another in the same bracket knocking about also

Cheers guys,
Makes me wonder now though, i shot one notably bigger years back and was thinking about getting it measured as never really purposely looked for trophies, until my old lab bless him made the decsision for me and chewed it up!

There seems to be some confusion the measurement of tip to tip is no longer being used. The measurement is inside the spread between the main beams.View attachment 247065
The tip to tip measurement has never been used as part of the Muntjac measuring formula; it was only ever 'supplementary data', used for scientific purposes. The measurements have always been main beams, brow points, coronets, mid-beam circumference and inside span.
As for measuring mounted specimens, they can be measured, providing only that all measurements can be taken without interfering with the accuracy of the measurement. That is for the individual CCM or STJ to assess. We always prefer, and ask for, cleaned bare skulls for all species.

Just to add to the previous post

Drying out periods are the same for all species, whether weight is involved or not. This is because, after extensive research, it was found that linear measurements, as well as weight measurements, showed a reduction over time.

Always happy to explain these things if contacted, but I don't frequent this site on a regular basis, so better to contact us via our website www.cicukteb.com
