Rubbish!Afaik you have to be invited to reapply as YOU cant apply early. This means in my mind that unless a reminder WAS sent its your flds problem
They won’t give you a temp if you apply late.Ask for a temp.
Get them transferred to Ivythorn who quoted me £10 per month as my RFD (who has very limited storage space) had quoted me £8/week so would have been looking at £128 per week just for the riflesI have been very busy but also prevaricating about renewing my FAC/SGC. Got round to it this morning, only to discover my licence expires tomorrow. I've had to take them all to a local RFD who is charging me through the nose for lodging. Fortunately, a mate is taking my shotguns for free (or for a beer or two!) but apparently because I submitted so late, they'll treat it as an initial grant and it could take months (Surrey/Sussex).
Keeping fingers crossed but it's going to cost nearly £2,000 a year to have them in storage (5 rifles, 3 shotguns - although I'm getting the actual owner to pay for those - £4+VAT per gun, per week).
I'm legal, at least but it's really frustrating when all their e-mails and answerphone say they're dealing with a huge backlog. Sadly my mate in the police has just left so doesn't hold any sway but he did contact his old manager who told him it would go down as an initial...
Ah well. I'll leave it a few months and then look at just disposing of the rifles as it's not worth paying that much to keep them, frankly. Shame.
Mine went in 12 weeks ahead. Gave them time to mess up four times. You can learn from my mistake and not do the same

An RFD is actually given a maximum inventory, so if they take in too many for storage they can adversely effect their own tradeRfd price doesn't seem expensive if you break it down to be fair.
£4 per week per rifle.
£4 x 52 weeks
52 weeks x 5 rifles
Just topside of a grand a year.
I'm dam sure if the rfd had issues and they were damaged or heaven forbid a fire then the guy who's firearms were stored would want compensation from the rfd insurance.

It's £4 + VATnot all are given a maximum inventory its each business on its merits and police force mode of operation.
£4 per week may only be £3.33 for a VAT registered RFD, for which they will have to keep the firearm safe from damage and secure and cover it on their business insurance.

I suspect the greatest majority do have a max inventory , i have yet to meet one that did not . Like some more known and more reason to own more private firearm are given greater numbers . No doubt importers / distributors are looked at differently but then they have a very different trade . I am going off what various RFD,s have told me though and like when shooters in different force areas get more or less restriction its likely done different under the various areasnot all are given a maximum inventory its each business on its merits and police force mode of operation.

folks dont always understand vat ! Its a balance beam thing someone who it vat registered has to charge vat but claims the vat back on all business expenses spent. If you dont qualify as having reached the vat limit , you can still register and that is often enough the right thing to do if your spending a lot building a new business and yet sales revenue into the business is still low / below the compulsory registration limit . A dealer and there customer and the real difference will always be a toss of a coinIt's £4 + VAT
Find another RFD who won't take the **** with charges like that, even if you have to drive a bit. I've had rifles stored before and never paid anything even close to that absolute extortion!
More expense getting them from here to there.Contact Steve Beatty as my post above
Why different to any other firearm transfer from one RFD to another? If it’s going to be a year it will work out far cheaperMore expense getting them from here to there.
OP won’t be able to do it now.
Ken.

A well structured and intelligent response. You’ll note I said afaik and is based on my own experience and my force areas methods.Rubbish!
