SD whisky drinkers

Speaking of trying stuff, at the Glenkinchie distillery tour a year or two back (very good, probably the best one in the country) I had a whisky with ginger beer. Was prepared for it to be awful, I’m not one for cocktails etc. Very nice indeed!

I was fortunate to receive a bottle of Cardhu for a recent birthday. I didn't get to try it before heading off for a birthday holiday. Great holiday but came back with a stinking cold (could even be a touch of man-flu:oops:) so I sampled the Cardhu with a cube of ice and some spring water, really slept well but didn't kill the cold so I've just poured another for myself and the missus, with whom I very generously shared the cold.:thumb::tiphat:

I live near Glenkinchie. Great tour

My cousin is the manager of the Johnny Walker centre in Princes Street Edinburgh
The tour is well worth doing and you gate a chance to try some cocktails and mixes you would never think of. Great for purists to broaden their minds

I’m meant to be seeing the vault soon where there are a few one offs, i.e. one bottle left in the world Whisky’s

Notwithstanding I am not drinking at the moment:-

At the recommendation of a SD member on here; this arrived this week.

Curiosity got the better of me and I poured a single pub measure into a glass, (comical really, because a single measure barely covers the bottom of the glass).

I tried a sip 'neat'.

Not sure if 'lively' is a proper description for the whisky aficionado, but it certainly warmed my gizzards.🥵

Discretion being the better part of valour, I dropped an ice cube into the remnants of the dram and waited for it to all melt down to room temperature (bathroom temperature actually, but you really don't want the image of me soaking in the tub, in your head do you?).

A powerful, and very flavoursome drop - not one for quenching your raging thirst.

Very good tastes right there.

I’ve had a bottle of this sitting, waiting for Christmas Day evening when the chaos has died down.

I have a small amount left. This is my favourite malt. Used to have an odd glass with my father in law. He died three years ago and when the bottle is finished I won’t buy anymore.
At £83 a bottle it’s out if my league. Shame as it has so many memories.

I’ve only had one glass previously. It’s probably more than double what my usual malt budget is, think I got it from Amazon at £65.

I use the slightly ridiculously named camelcamelcamel.com to track the Amazon prices of whisky (well anything I’m interested in really). It shows the historical pricing of any item, and I set the alerts to notify me when it drops to my desired price.

Prior to using that I don’t think I realised how much Amazon prices for pretty much everything fluctuate. And yes, I am aware that Amazon is the demon. Cheap and very convenient though which is why it has been a roaring success.

Can't abide the stuff, I did try Teachers once, I managed to take a glass, My tipple is a Cognac / Brandy or Rum, or an aged Port.
I was told that such a reaction was because you just haven’t tried enough and found one you like🤣🤣

Some big similarities between a champagne cognac and a a few speyside whiskys.

As to the rest of your list…….spot on👍
