Still on the subject of insurance, who are people using for 4x4 insurance?
I'm currently with NFU, and the premium for my Isuzu D-Max has just gone up to £670 / year, which I think is extortionate.
Looking to change.

Oneclickdirect

2 year old Toyota Hilux Invincible X

FC, legal fees, windscreen etc etc usual stuff

£616

Insurance seems to have got technical, taking into account not only "your" age , driving / claims history, vehicle engine size etc.
A lot of it now seems to be weighted to the potential cost of repair / writing off.

I was toying with getting a 1985 LR pickup. Put it in an insurace search as an additional vehicle for me (cant use no claims on two vehicles) and named driver for a 17yr old girl, just passed test, and the quote was under £300.00.

Same specs with 2010 Ford Galaxy about £600

Same specs with 2016, 1.5l focus over a grand.

At the end of the day, if they see your vehicle being a risk (not you) the premium will be high regardless of where you look 😞

Yep Just look at Range Rovers now. Virtually uninsurable

Have a much smaller Suzuki Grand Viatara and its a AWD @ £313 with Aviva Zero. Also I have found that Money Maxim does provide cheaper quotes than the usual ones such as GoCompare or Money Supermarket in case anyone wants to give it a try. I have found about £30+ difference for the same car by same insurer when compared between the two sites.

Looking at getting a L200 or a D max but both coming in insurance wise at 700-875 never claimed and no points at all nothing.

Need to find somewhere else

Mitsubishi L200 Warrior 2018- £500 with LV. Also covers me for travel to different places of work for my employment.

My mate is in his 70's and has an old Discovery. It used to be around £350, but this renewal they wanted over £900, no reason given. He did a "go compare" and got the same type of insurance but from a different firm for £600. It seems they have all gone up massively.

I was with LV a few years ago and the premium was hiked at renewal - did a "go compare", being careful to select like for like and the cheapest came out as LV, £50 less than my renewals quote!!

Mine, the wife's and the son's insurance all increased by about £200-£250 this last renewal. All different sizes and types of car and all different insurance companies. Seems to be just that time that the insurance industry has decided it needs a profit top up again. It'll creep down over the next 3 to 5 years and then pop again.

Insured my Grand Vitara today for £203 with Aviva. 6k miles fully comp. Go compare quote was £180 but I couldn't fathom out the reason for the increase. LV wanted £260 to renew.
