cant say i disagree with vat on school fees, other than vat is a bit of a scam in its own right.
independant pest control companies have enabled most councils to stop offering pest control services, saving council tax. yet i still have to pay and collect vat for free

Why is it right that a small proportion of schools have to charge VAT on their fees/income while the rest of them don't? State schools and universities are exempt. Education has always been exempt from VAT, because it benefits society massively (which is more than can be said for other things exempt from.VAT).
Labour has not presented a single coherent justification for this policy. The ONLY reason for this is socialist viciousness. It achieves nothing positive whatsoever, while imposing crippling costs on some families who are mostly not wealthy but responsible.
It's particularly disgraceful coming from a party led by a multimillionaire who refuses to pay health or educational costs when he can afford to, simply so he can virtue signal about being a socialist.

it is illegal to charge VAT on education in the EU and Germany actually gives tax rebates to parents of independent schools because they are removing the cost of their children from the state system.
Quite right too. If that was part of the change here, it would have some sort of justification. Parents of private school kids do a massive benefit to the state system, not to mention that they've already paid tax at double the rate of most people on that money already.

Our eldest went to private school for continuity of education as both of use were wearing uniform and highly mobile; this was paid for by the public purse with contributions from ourselves. When it came for our youngest to start secondary education, we had both had enough by then, I'd resigned and became a Civil Servant and the wife tried to stay as static at home as she could. We therefore picked up the entire cost so both children had equal opportunity - this came at significant cost. What I would also observe from both schools that our children used was that the vast majority of parents were of "modest means" and, like us with our second, made cuts and savings so that their children had the best chance that they could assist with in starting their lives. Whilst the school car park did have the ubiquitous Range Rovers and Porches, these were in the minority and a lot of parents were driving 10 year old plus cars, we a battered old Ford Galaxy. They were exercising a choice (and arguably right) to do their bit for their kids - to penalise them as @Apthorpe says is socialist viciousness!
Vote for high tax, centralised control, statist parties and you’ll get policies to match

Labour's election campaign is an absolute disgrace where tax is concerned. What policies are revealed are disgustingly vile, and the rest concealed as though the taxpayer has no right to know how he's going to get shafted.
Meanwhile, in France the lefties are rioting because they are as bad as Trump and won't accept election results. The Tories have been ffffing useless, but it seems that's still the best it gets in the West.

Anyone voting Labour needs their fac revoking on mental grounds. Let’s be honest here the tories are an absolute **** show and a large part of that is because liebour have been and will be so utterly **** that it’s allowed them to be. If we had a proper opposition this situation where we gave top sides of the same coin wouldn’t happen.
Resigned myself to the fact that the UK is going to be a cesspool for a decade which ever way it goes and the only hope is that I can retain all my wealth in the business then do a flit to somewhere at an appropriate time with hopefully a little more than before. Sad state of affairs when that’s your best plan.

A tax on exceptional arrogance not on school fees, would be acceptable. If it were tax on exceptional arrogance it would capture Starmer, Rayner and Reeves too, all of whom are individually considerably more arrogant than Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Rory Stewart, the Archbish of C, or Goldsmith combined.
