DSC 1 - BDS or BASC ?

I did the BASC course, which was well paced, gave enough pre-study work, and was delivered by an instructor that clearly knew his stuff.
Worth noting that BASC membership, and DSC1 gives access to their stalking schemes, which is handy for the vital first few outings.

I did the BASC course last week as it was at a convenient location. It was excellent. However, I can’t imagine that there is anything between the BDS and BASC courses, as the qualification is the same.

Check but I think the bds course is 3 days and basc is 4 , I did mine with basc couldn’t fault them , the other thing now is you can do an online course with bds with a day to do the actual testing. , this may suit ,
Have a look on both websites and see who’s nearest to with appropriate dates

Did mine through BASC 4 days, I enjoyed it and learned stuff from others on the course as well as the actual course material. As with all courses it largely comes down to the quality or otherwise of the guy delivering it David Stretton did ours he was very good and took us to the deer park to watch some deer

Doesn't matter, which assessment centre you complete a DSC 1 with (BASC, BDS, NGO, etc.) the exams / tests are set by Deer Management Qualifications (DMQ) and they issue the certificates. Course duration can vary with most being 3-4 days , the choice is yours!!
