Hi All,
So when selling an item someone pms you saying they will take it and 5 mins later someone says the same on the thread itself. Who gets priority?
There are some forums I am on and forum rules state that you have to state yes please or words to that affect.

When I sell I always ask that the potential buyer replies FIRST on the public thread to establish their time of response and then follows it up with a PM. That way there can be no doubt to all viewing the thread as to who has asked first. Even if that public response is a mere "PM sent". Some may be at work or elsewhere when a lengthy message by PM isn't convenient to them.

AGF rules are excellent in the sales thread.
You must state in the open forum that you want an item; "Yes please" will do, then move to a private message. (Such a shame I'm banned)
It removes "Skull Dugery"..

Thanks for the replies, I know there are no written rules on SD in regards to this but on some other forums e.g. AGF, some lads don't half get the hump when they lose out just because they have sent "You have pm" instead of following forum rules of stating "yes please" on an open forum for all to see.

I am OK with a "PM sent" and that is all that is needed where the potential buyer may want the item but only if they then by PM (for example) seek information about say choke or sizing. I can then reply on the thread "PM replied to" and after that a "NOW SOLD" or a "STILL AVAILABLE". So in some instances a simple "Yes please" is quite OK but in some cases a "PM sent" where further particulars are sought is also OK. But yes always the first contact by direct reply to the thread.

I pm with my address and ask which payment they want as you can't be any more up front than that.

First come first served for me. However ‘interested’, ‘you have pm’ and the pm is offer/ haggling/ similar or thread response or PM is anything other than an unqualified ‘I’ll take it’ then you are not in the race ahead of the first unqualified offer.
Unless I’ve agreed with an interested party otherwise first.

I think first the first person to pm or message on open forum but ultimately it’s down to the seller
Most of us will have had
I will take this but don’t get paid till Friday.
I will take this and then you don’t hear back from them for 3 days .
And so on.
If both parties are happy then then happy days

First come, first served and I’m not going to be pedantic about how the first enquiry was made.

However, ‘first come’ didn’t mean first to try and haggle. I try to give someone first refusal at full price, if they were first and are followed up by someone offering the asking price, but I won’t risk losing the sale to someone offering the full amount if someone is taking time deciding.
