When I sell I always ask that the potential buyer replies FIRST on the public thread to establish their time of response and then follows it up with a PM. That way there can be no doubt to all viewing the thread as to who has asked first. Even if that public response is a mere "PM sent". Some may be at work or elsewhere when a lengthy message by PM isn't convenient to them.Hi All,
So when selling an item someone pms you saying they will take it and 5 mins later someone says the same on the thread itself. Who gets priority?
There are some forums I am on and forum rules state that you have to state yes please or words to that affect.
AGF rules are excellent in the sales thread.Hi All,

Nope. Gentlemanly conduct costs nothing. After all, we have to trust our instincts when buying & selling. Was I wrong?
Absolutely not. Hopefully, whoever it was got schooled into an attitude adjustmentTough - I can’t abide an entitled attitude. Was I wrong?
I am OK with a "PM sent" and that is all that is needed where the potential buyer may want the item but only if they then by PM (for example) seek information about say choke or sizing. I can then reply on the thread "PM replied to" and after that a "NOW SOLD" or a "STILL AVAILABLE". So in some instances a simple "Yes please" is quite OK but in some cases a "PM sent" where further particulars are sought is also OK. But yes always the first contact by direct reply to the thread.Even if that public response is a mere "PM sent". I pm with my address and ask which payment they want as you can't be any more up front than that.Hi All,
