West Yorkshire police FA licensing

Would value people's experience in West Yorkshire on renewals etc. Lived North yorkshire, lancs and Northumberland and they were all spot on.

I renewed this time last year with west yorks. They were great. Both FAC and SGC renewed with a week to spare and no dramas.

I’ve found them to be really helpful and, previously at least, they were pretty quick at turning stuff around. Chris in particular is a standout bloke.

This year though, they’ve been a bit slower - which is apparently the result of staff retiring and leaving. I’m now on week 9 of a variation, which was processed and approved quite quickly, but I’ve been waiting most of that time for the certificate to be reprinted and posted.

They have to prioritise transfers, because of the risk of things not being accounted for - fair enough, given the risks involved.

Always open to reasonable discussion on the phone and in person and the FEOs I have dealt with have all had a decent knowledge pleasant and common sense
currently short staffed and
Lead times increasing so might be a wait. Get it put in plenty early enough amd it'll be fine.

I've had variations from online e dine jn 2 was to 12wks all depending on current demands

Have had several errors on the FAC over the years even recently so check it like a hawk when back in hand

This is what I don’t understand why are they short staffed when we’re paying more for facs ? Weren’t we told that money would go towards more staff and training ?

I hope so to - Sorry I wasn’t expecting a black powder licence to take longer than an FAC, so frustrating given I want to use black powder substitute anyway! Again, printing delays seem to be the limiting factor!

As an update on current West Yorkshire Police wait times, I put in a large and complex variation on Monday night, and it was approved as quickly as this morning. They were exceptionally helpful.

I’ll update this thread once as I’ve got the physical certificate.

The time to approval is not the problem it’s waiting for your new certificate to get printed and back in your hand where the delay comes in.
mine was a simple like for like variation after disposing of a rifle. It was approved in three days, Old certificate was posted off the day following approval, but it took more than three months for my new varied certificate to be printed and arrive with me.

I had the same on my last variation about three months ago sadly - hence why I was going to report back. Like yourself, it took 12 weeks to be printed. I assume they are batching them up?

I’ve just received my latest variations. It was seven weeks between getting the email that it was being printed, and the physical certificate landing on my doorstep.
