Cellular Trail Camera which one??

I’m sure this has been asked before but I know some new models have come out recently.

I am currently running a couple of spypoint LTE cellular cameras which have performed quite well, have had a couple of small issues but other than that have been pretty reliable. One has now decided to give up but I have had it for some number of years now.

I am looking to purchase a couple of new trail cameras and was wondering what to go for, would be interested to hear some feedback from people have have experience with different models

I think it looks like the options would be between HIL, Spypoint and Zeiss

So far I have been thinking between the Zeiss Secacam or maybe the Spypoint flex, Has anyone had any experience of using for say spypoint and Zeiss cameras and what are the good and bad points?

A particular good point I have found with the spypoint lte is the battery packs from spypoint they last a long time and save a few quid on buying batteries every month or so.

Also to consider what is the most cost effective subscription out there for cellular cameras these days?

Would be interested to hear

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback, exactly what I’m looking for is feedback from users of the different cameras with good and bad points.

Zeiss do seem to get good reviews, the app seems to get good reviews also and they seem to be reasonably priced units

I’m no tech and it’s very easy to set up me and my mate both had spypoint and both switched with no complaints

I had Spypoint, albeit not cellular, failed very quickly.
Currently using Hikmicro M15 and it’s been faultless for the year or so I’ve used it.
Went with Hik rather than Zeiss as I have other products on the app.
Predator Protection on YouTube rates GardenPro above them all… he’s probably sponsored by them but the footage and price look good

Been using the same Zeiss Secacam 5 since October 2024 with no real drama . Battery life is good on it.

I run two Hik Mirco 15 and four Seacam 5s.
The Hik picture quality is better but the app is rubbish.
The zeiss app is great and the cameras are excellent quality.
If I was buying id probably stick with Seacam 5 bundle of 4 four better value for money.
Roe deer is Seacam 5
Fox is Hik Micro

Zeiss Secacam, in which ever flavour you can afford. I have a 5, got 9 months out of the first set of batteries. Gets cell signal where my phone doesnt

I've been running 2 Spypoint Micro-S-LTE solar trail cameras for coming up to 3 years now with only one requiring intervention last month. Took that one home, fully recharged the battery, cleaned up the battery contacts and its been working flawlessly since. Indeed, despite being on the lowest sensitivity, I'm getting typically 30 pictures a day from it mostly of pheasants and squirrels but checking status now, the battery is showing 100% in the app - both set to send immediately.

I've looked around at others but have decided to stick with Spypoint and have just bought an additional Flex-S-Dark solar. Imported the steel box for that from the US using Amazon for half the UK price. I run Premium subscriptions on the 2 Micro-S-LTE due to the number of deer I get on both and in all honesty, I think at £75/year per camera for unlimited use, that's good value. The new permission for which the Flex-S-Dark was bought didn't come off so its not out yet but when it is, I'll go down the premium route for that one too. The picture quality on the Micros is fairly basic and I'm hoping that the Flex is much better but both Micros tell me everything I need to know!

A few from yesterday:

I might buy one of the cheaper spypoint cameras after reading this thread, better question though I notice almost all the listings are coming from the US on amazon anyone ever ended up with any import fees on them?

Don't do it! You need the UK ones are they have UK cellular sims/electronics. US version doesn't work here period - I have one!

Flex is not a patch on LTE - they are crap!!

I’ve had Flex, LTE, HIK and Zeiss.

Zeiss are the only ones I buy now.
Interesting - both of mine are in poor signal areas and one down a steep wooded valley. Signals are not strong (one is always red) but they work.

I see, good too know! I'll try locate a UK one 🙂 (If anyone has any links, I'd appreciate it)
Blackwood Outdoors had the Micros reduced as they clear stocks for the Flex. Worth waiting to see what further deals may arise in the post-Christmas "sales".

Had a Hik for two years, not excited by it but it's been reliable. Bought a Secacam 3 from Camera centre UK for £89 and added the battery pack for £55 , everything about it seems better except there are no free photos each month. However, you can purchase credits very reasonably which stay until you need them.I wish I had bought two at the offer price.
