James Clark the owner of Jager Sporting arms(he is a Trade Member of this site) is the only Du-Coat certified applier approved by Lauer in the UK, he is all so an approved applier of Cera-coat. He does DIY kit for Du-coat if you really want to go down that route, as already said it is labour intensive if you aren’t set up for it.

just had a look at dip it and the do rifle stocks from 70 so nt bad at all it ry give them a ring about the stock and decide wether i go abot the barrel my self or look into some wer els cheers jay

no worrys tim. im going to get my interceptor stock done. as its tatty and needs a tidy up. for £70 you can moan at that. and they look like they do a cracking job on it.
again its all in the prep before dipping it in the patten you want

Ahhhh pardon the question but I thought the claimed bonus of synthetic stocks was their durability and toughness. yet reading this I get the impression that if you wish to maintain the rifles looks then you have to spend on of a re-finish every few years?

While I can see that being good for the repeat re-finish trade it defeats the object surely of a durable stock.

no the stock was in this condition when i got the rifle. the stock is solid and i find it very nice to use when shooting.
being lefthanded its been hard to find a rifle with right handed bolt but ambi stock.

the marks and scratches dont bother me. its the horrid colour i find off putting. but the rifle was what i was looking for and at the price i got it had a saving over new prices.

so didnt mind spending a little extra now on getting the stock done in something i like the look of

I think Ceracoat for barrels & actions, Duracoat of stocks. Costs of paint is just too high until they reach Europe and I am therefore
developing my own ceramic filled paints for our stocks and actually believe we can make them more durable.

i have a mate in the US and was going to see if he could get me some and post it as a gift that way ther is no import tax

iv ordered some film and activator from dip it so going to try a few small items and check out how hard it is. il post some pics wen iv done and let ppl no if its worth trying DIY hidrographics

Contact” Kaleidoscope” (Jager sporting arms, James Clark) off here, he has DIY kits, the cost as Edi says of importing Du-Coat is very expensive because the US customs class it a Hazardous material. Nothing wrong with Dave Wylde work he has done some for me in the past before he started doing coating he got James to coat all his rifles. James has quite probably more experience than anybody else in firearms coating in the UK, he has spent his time and his money on traveling to the USA to go on the Du-Coat training course, then to Germany to get the proper training in using Ceracoat. I am with Edi Du-coat for stocks and Ceracoat.

Ahhh thank you I understand now. My knowledge of synthetic stocks in limited as I have no real interest in them or plastic stocks. I do not like the way they feel and cannot for the life of me see the cost of them in them. Of course the hand laid up ones must take time and TIME IS MONEY ....................... SOOOOOOOOOOOOO?

I've been coating Firemans for 5 years now, tried most products, the best ones are obviously what I use...duracoat and cerakote! Anything else I wouldn't bother with, duracoat sticks to Teflon by the way, BBQ, exhaust paint were designed for those applications not firearms. The two products I use we're specifically designed for firearms!

Prices for my coating isn't that expensive and I've done 100s of jobs!

Just want to add, I've just got a new delivery of coating which will be available for purchase again, I keep most colours in stock.

so got my realtree dip diy kit to day bin playing with it and after a few things did a cheep scope i had and i was more than happy with my self came out good and with a littel more practice id be happy to try one of my better scopes. but note to self latex gloves needed as my fingers are now realtree lol

il try get some pics up and maby it will inspire other members to try a bit of diy hidrographics for ther selfs
