Nothing political, but it seems the wee toads have woken up. Spotted one while putting the dogs out last night, then picked up five squashed on the drive where the Mrs had driven up last night later than normal.

Seen one a week or two back, and saw first slowworm of the year yesterday.

I picked up 3 off the lane outside out house a few already flattened, I have dropped them in our pond, will see what happens.

We get plenty here, but I've never borne witness to this carnage before. That's the Mrs on curfew.

I was out shooting a few rats last night and the suicidal antics of thousands of moths coming out was only put in the shade by the bats chasing them !

We walked down a track we use very frequently two Sundays ago and counted 6 dead toads in a 40m stretch.
All driven over but seemingly come out of their burrows and heading to a water filled ditch.
Wife hates them so was quite happy, but I don’t mind toads - they are fairly inoffensive!

Oh, Jo detests them with a deep, unbridled passion!!
Down to seeing one emerge from the side of a pond liner as a kid and it scared her - now she can’t stand them. Or frogs!

Used to have a toad lived under the bookcase in our living room.
We moved him out when we had some work done to resolve the damp.

How bizarre that you posted this!!! Yesterday I was walking to the bottom of casa gixer grounds (you know where i’m sure!) and heard quite a loud noise, as I peeked into our pond - it was about 10 toads all ribbetting and a very healthy amount of spawn!

It was so loud that I went back and (much to their delight) made Mrs Gixer and mini-
Gixer 1 follow me down to see said amphib’s!!

Very impressive to see.
