whisky is actually dyed you know to the colour they want.
E150A is added.
This is correct for a lot of whiskey. I think it’s often referred to as caramel (or no caramel added). Some single malt offering, usually cask strength ones, make a point of stating; “no added colouring” / “without caramel” / are “naturally bottled”.
My collection recently expanded of the cask strength speyside varieties.
