Who said you have to list them now?So why have I got to list all 5 of my mods on my renewal? Seems as though the system is broken!!
You shoot it without, until your 141 comes through, gun still got bang without it, just louder
It’s on the form and I’m not going to take the risk of leaving my mods off only to have them seized and destroyed!Who said you have to list them now?
If it's the online form then I guess it just hasn't been updated yet.
If it's tone of the firearms dept staff, point them to the HO circular.
Same! Not the system just bed, harts and cambs. Run by a numpty
Oh, not at all.And you're surprised mate....???
List them if you like but they should disappear from your face when it comes back. It’s on the form and I’m not going to take the risk of leaving my mods off only to have them seized and destroyed!
BCH use the same online system and paper forms as everyone else, they cannot change the format. Not the system just bed, harts and cambs. Run by a numpty
They won't be seized and destroyed, stop being dramatic. The likely thing is the online renewal process + paperwork hasn't been updated as the legislation has been in for a week...It’s on the form and I’m not going to take the risk of leaving my mods off only to have them seized and destroyed!
Sorry, are you an expert in firearms law? No? Guessed not. They won't be seized and destroyed, stop being dramatic. The likely thing is the online renewal process + paperwork hasn't been updated as the legislation has been in for a week...
Firearms law? No. Law in general, yeh pretty on it. There is absolutely no court on this island that would prosecute the owner of a lawfully held moderator, as per the new legislation...Sorry, are you an expert in firearms law? No? Guessed not.
You have absolutely no idea how an FEO will react to my not putting mods onto my license and I’m bloody sure you won’t stump up the £2k to replace them.
You are very naive if you think that a firearms department might not look favourably at a licensee actively removing restricted items from their license but still keeping them.Firearms law? No. Law in general, yeh pretty on it. There is absolutely no court on this island that would prosecute the owner of a lawfully held moderator, as per the new legislation...
Given its actually IN LAW, its fair to say you're being dramatic
It’s not that the law has changed, it’s that I am not unilaterally permitted to not disclose to the police that items previously listed on my license are still in my possession but I have chosen to not include them in my renewal.I don't really think how a licensing team interpret/look at legal compliance should really be a factor? They certainly haven't passed the bar - possibly of any type.....
If you have had bad experiences with your team I can certainly understand why you would take that stance. But the bottom line is a government minister signed the SI over 10 days ago - it is law - and the accompanying HO circular that provides the guidance, clearly indicates they aren't needed to be kept on a FAC as a 'slot' anymore....which definitely trumps Hertfordshire Constabularies (very poor) interpretation of it.......
This is more a reflection on the quality - or lack of - of the HertsPol licensing team and its understanding of firearms law and practical application. It is sad and frustrating that you and others have to experience this approach - which isn't unique to the HBC licensing team.
But as said, up to you; and if you have previously been burnt under their supervision I get why you would take that approach.
Just wondering if you have read the following -You are very naive if you think that a firearms department might not look favourably at a licensee actively removing restricted items from their license but still keeping them.
If THEY tell me that the mods are off ticket then I’m fine, but until that happens, they remain on!
Can I suggest you don’t go for the bar exam just yet!!

Sound moderators: what you need to know
Following the government announcement in June on sound moderators being removed from firearms licensing, we answer some of your questions.basc.org.uk
Yes, but the renewal application system doesn’t let you draw a line through it!Just wondering if you have read the following -
In particular what BASC suggests -
"For neatness’ sake, it may be a good idea to draw a line through a moderator on your certificate and annotate it with suitable words e.g. “No longer subject to licensing since 29/6/2026”.
