well finally sorted the scope mount issue (by throwing the POS mounts away!).
back to cheap and cheerful Nikko Stirling 3-9x50 IR with 1" tube
bit snug on low Hilvers!!:
I bought a box of Privi 50gr SP for the purposes of getting on paper.
walked the POI onto the centre cross of my custom pizza base at 50yds
swapped to my homeloads:
Federal brass, CCI primer, 22.10gr N133 under 50gr Vmax (I have some ladder loads between 20.8 and 23.1gr, but these shot so well I didnt even try the rest!)
POI was 1/3" to the left but otherwise unchanged, so I can shoot deer or fox without changing scope settings
Moved target out to 110yds. (just easier than 100 where I was!)
slight breeze of 10-15mph
2 shots, POI sits an inch high.
by my wet finger in the air calculations it should be point and shoot out to 250yds -ish
sorry no photos of insanely small cloverleaf groups!
it was windy, getting dark and I didnt shoot that many of one load or one single scope setting.
suffice to say that the 2-3 on each setting or load all landed within 1/2"-3/4"
not too shabby for a cheap and cheerful "beater" and some "scoop loaded roll your owns"
Bring on the ginger menace!
