Hunting Life "been caught poaching need advise"

Sadly the incident would appear to be genuine. On Friday night / Saturday morning, very close to where I live, three persons from South Yorks were arrested.
At least two vehicles were involved, an ATV and a Landrover. The ATV team were lamping and working the dogs. They did not have permission to drive all over fields and crops. Ten deer carcasses were found, some lying on the brink of a ditch whilst the others had been thrown into the water. It would appear that the carcasses had been dumped when the poachers realised that the police were closing in on them. The landrover whilst trying to evade the police, was driven into a ditch and the three occupants arrested.
I saw the carcasses, which were mainly Chinese Water Deer and a couple of Muntjac, one of which was a young fawn. Ten deer carcasses, savaged by dogs made a very sorry sight.
With so many similarities to the incident outlined on Hunting Life, it is most likely one and the same. Whether one of the persons arrested actually posted it is a matter for speculation of course. Anyone having any information should consider passing it to Cambridgeshire police.

Then they should have their cars, taken and destroyed, the dogs destroyed, along with a heavy prisoon scentence in my opinion.

Anyone who thinks it is morally or legally right to run dogs on deer and undertake poaching is NO DEER STALKER. And anyone who supports any such practice in any shape or form should also look to themselves as to whether or not they are a deer stalker. How can anyone have respect for the deer they stalk and the environment they live in if they support such an illegal and ethically wrong practice. Some may not agree with my opinion, but the law needs to make an example of such idiots.

No one is sticking up for these guys if they have committed a crime .But it dose seem that when things like this come up people in my opinion over react. A year for each deer some one said.= 10 years come on lads its only a few deer there not drug dealer ,rapist's ,child, molesters,Or murderers. all would have had a lesser sentence.
Lets keep it in perspective and hope the powers that be give them a sentence to fit the crime
Iquite agree, lets keep things in perspective, eh?

So you never disagreed with the hunting ban then ? And whats coursing got to do with poaching ?

As I have said, I don`t condone poaching. But labeling anyone with an interest in what was up until recentley an accepted fieldsport an idiot / poacher / morally suspect person or whatever is stretching it a bit. There are threads galore on here about bow hunting !! or is that different ?

Good job it`s not one mans say as to who is a "deer stalker" then .

Stones and glass houses spring to mind when stalkers, anglers or games shooters start to point the finger at coarsing. You might not like to do it yourself, but dont back the "Anti" movement by demonising it. We are all in the same boat!

I have to say I never knew there were that many munties and CWD up that far so you learn something every day

There was nothing these particular people were doing that was in any way sporting or legal. They went rampaging over the land without consent, took ten deer with dogs, the carcasses of which were left badly savaged and unceremoniously dumped and the landowner and his family were left in shock.

This has nothing to do with any romantic notion about 'one of the pot', or fond memories of legal hunting with dogs. If you want to sing the virtues of long outlawed activities this isn't the thread to do it. Or the forum for that matter.

The matter is in the hands of the police and hopefully justice will be done.

I disagreed with the hunting ban, I have no issue with Hare Coursing or any LEGAL ACTIVITY carried out prior to the ban.

Illegal coursing is POACHING, coursing deer with dogs is ILLEGAL and has been as far as I am aware for may years. How in gods name can you say that tearing deer apart by coursing them is an OK practice is beyond me. One only hopes your ground is not rampaged across by idiots such as these.

What they have done is ILLEGAL, UNETHICAL, and without any care for the deer and their welfare.

END OFF.
