As in the title, two big stories in two days, not a word as far as I can see from the premier shooting organisation that is SACS

I'm happy to pay SACS my insurance money so that if I need there help that's what I get, If you want to pay double for your insurance so that someone will come out and make a statement now again fair enough.

I am pleased you are happy with your choice, as am I.:)

Quite correct, we could choose to sit back and not combat negative press, nor try combat the failings of the licencing system etc. and just rely on a cheap insurance deal…

We could sit back knowing that our insurance may pay out in the (unlikely) event we have an accident but we will see our shooting eroded away because our cheap insurance company did not bother to stand up and do something about it.

I will happily pay the extra few quid to have a large organisation stand up in the media et al to help keep my sport safer, but if all I want is cheap insurance I know where to go… my home insurance!!!

You can be as smug as you like David, I will never change to BASC ever.

The reason being, when I tried to talk to your representatives at a game fair they would not give me the time of day, instead only willing to prostitute themselves to tweed wearers with a mouth full of marbles (no doubt in the hope of getting some free shooting if they did enough brown nosing).

For this reason you have missed out on a lifetime of fees from myself which, as the incident happened when I was around 19 or so would have amounted to quite a substantial sum.

I get insurance for that reason it's insurance and, despite false information you have personally (or someone typing under your name) put on this website regarding others and whether or not they will pay out in the event of an accident I am happy with my choice, id rather my insurance money was spent on getting me a good insurance deal rather than a flashy website and big banners for game fairs.

I wuld not use BASC because they cant decide who they are really for the government or them selves note i do not say there member,s

I don't think insurance company's are going to stand up and defend the erosion of our shooting and I can't see that competition bashing is going to get you/BASC more business from the shooting world. Individuals make their choices of providers for their own reasons, some of which may be solely based on economy.

While I have nothing against BASC or any other organisation, the much or little all shooting organisations defend our sport, the better regard they will be held in, by all of us sporting consumers.
It's to be hoped that all shooting sports providers, large or small, will make and take relevant action on behalf of their subscribers. ATB

Not being smug at all, just stating facts.

Nor would I suggest you leave SACS, as I opened with you are happy with your choice as am I.

But the fact remains that the defence of shooting will need more than just low cost insurance cover, now you and others may choose to argue against that until the cows come home.

Paul the key issue referred to are this:

http://www.basc.org.uk/en/media/key_issues.cfm/cid/BAC13015-A815-4D52-AFF24CAD9181D7C1

Both of which have attracted significant media coverage onradio and TV, more details on the BASC web site.

Best wishes

David

PS off now to put marbles in my mouth, put on my tweeds and try and scrounge a bit of shootin’ don’t know what what?

Well said David at least there is one voice that bothers to speak up for our shooting sports very rarely heard from anything of the others happy to pay that bit extra to have a voice for my given sport and BASC have always done all I have asked of them, much prefer BASC rather than just a mute cheap insurance provider......

David from BASC You say you are defending our sport and looking after members why bother in the case of the storys and deer the fact is there are to many in many areas in England and they need dealt with. There are restrictions being imposed on stalkers in Scotland at this minute and more to come and what did BASC do sat at the same table and took the cash. David i cannot understand why any deer stalker would let one Pennie of there money go to your organisation who quite frankly set all deer stalkers up for a fall regards the DSC 1. It might be a good idea David if BASC sad no to the government's plans some times the members that left you and the BDS in there droves might come back.

Shooting organisations including BASC may speak up all they like, but I have yet to see any evidence that they actually swayed the Government decisions in shooters favour.

Neil. :)

Afternoon 6 pointer, happy for you to start another threadon this if you wish, I did not mean to hijack the ‘SACS what do they actually do'thread – apologies.
Let’s keep this one on topic.

You are missing the point completely. I don't pay my money to have a group reword BBC statements and put them on a website, I pay my money for insurance.

I pay for insurance and that is why I pay an INSURANCE company and not a political party / insurance company.

Putting a regurgitated statement on your website that only some of the shooting fraternity read is hardly the same as being on national news and putting a point over that way where a far greater number of people from wider back grounds will view it.

eh, are talking about Sacs or BASC now? SACS have a very informative article about snaring regulations on their website front page. As far as I see BASC are on the national news.

I can see this thread being closed even before BASC request/ instruct the mods to do so.
